Weeekly shined with this concept and sound

  • A lot of people don't realize how versatile this group is. I love their cheerful, bright music, but I also think they'd do so great with more songs like this one.

I actually also LOVE this song. It popped into my Spotify random playlists a few times and I liked it before I even twigged it was Weeekly

Also, Zoa is at her most murderous in this

  • Ven Para was a mistake. Not the song itself just the transition After School > Holiday Party to Ven Para wasn't smooth at all. Like I'm not again sharp concept changes but it didn't work out well and the hiatus that followed just made things worse.

The following tts so vroom vroom and Lights On are a much better path like Vroom vroom tells you they're grown up without being especially mature and Lights On brings back the bright but still new Weeekly.

That being said for the bsides mentioned here I love them, especially Backwards. They make it work well. All of them although I have to mention Monday, Zoa and Soeun as the ones shining the most in the more mature/less bright concepts.

  • I'll never understand why companies insist on beating these trends to death. Especially when their group is using a concept that is different and has been gaining them traction. I liked after school but I never listened to their other songs. I just quickly looked at Ven Para and it's the same concept I'm seeing on every other girl group, and it's night and day with how different it is to their original stuff. Idol companies really need to understand that international fans will take an interest in a group if their music is good and catchy regardless of concept.

I agree. It's not a bad song. I just listened to the song again. I don't remember if I ever watched the full MV, but I gave it a watch just now.

I think the concept change is just too sharp for a relatively new group at the time. They already had their signature sound, but ditched it.

    You said it well.

"Lights On" is such an incredible song. It stays true to their identity sonically while being new.

Zoa is incredible. She can going from having that bright, uplifting smile to this. That's why she became my favorite.
