Is it possible that Illit replaces NewJeans?

  • I mean that was initially the plan until everything was revealed to the public. They could and would still try though.

They should have gotten a member or two to be fluent in English if they had wanted to replace NJ in the west though.

Indeed. If MHJ did not lose her nerve, she should have seen that Illit was not meant to take on the world, but only would be mostly operating in Japan.

  • Not even the slightest chance. If Illit wants a name for themselves they need their own identity, they will never be able to do that if they keep copying everything Newjeans do better in the cringest way possible. Which is a pity since they absolutely have the resources to make something cool and original, and I find Magnetic tons better than Attention.

What happened is NJ had hits after hits after hits and everything it released became the talk of town, but Illit only had Magnetic, which they did not sing well, and their next title hopefully. No Hype Boy, no Ditto, etc.

  • Illit have one big problem..... their name sucks. The only thing NewJeans acctually have is an okay name even if their music sucks. (well they are "pretty" also).

Literally, the only thing ILLIT has going for them is ONE single hit, that’s it! Like Fifty Fifty, the one thing you definitely don’t want is for a song to be more popular than the group itself

  • Illit’s Geographical Focus: Illit has primarily targeted the Asian market, especially Korea and Japan. While their debut hit, “Magnetic,” was unexpected, consistent success with subsequent releases, especially globally could position them as a formidable competitor. Even “LGS” also performing well as a B-side. Also, Wonhee is their biggest weapon, trend setter, the IT girl of the group, which is going to help a lot.

NewJeans’ Position: NewJeans will likely remain the Hybe's flagship girl group for the next few years. While other girl groups may achieve hits and popularity, NewJeans’ established status and loyal fan base make them hard to replace easily.

NewJeans had the world in mind but Illit was to be a Japan-only act. Magnetic just got unusually big.

I think they will mostly promote Iroha in Japan. She speaks first in Illit's videos in Japanese.

I think after this Ador circus dies down Illit will mostly promote in Japan while Hybe will save its big girl group, with the so-called 'Grammy nominated producer", in 2026.
