How did YG fail so bad.

  • they didn't realize that they should debut more groups like other agencies do

and also multiple of their boy groups got scandals or members started to leave, or even both cases in same time

  • 'd say globally based on feelings pulled out of my arse, Blackpink were at least as popular as BTS matching/exceeding in endorsement income and several world tours.

Fandom wise, despite how loud and annoying blinks are, they were never even close to represent 20% of armys, so blackpink was never close to bts, even onces when we were inspired and focused could match and beat blinks in numbers. Bp was just way more popular outside core fandom than twice, and not even with that bp could match what armys could pull off by themselves.

Yg failed because they were too focused with blackpink for way too long to think in the future of the company, focused first in making blackpink beat twice and then trying to chase bts popularity levels. So instead of debuting new groups and slowly deviating resources and attention into them they concentrated almost all on the 2 goals I mentioned. Treasure should have debuted late 2018 or early 2019, and baby monster yes or yes on 2021, and by now yg should have a newly debuted boy group with an upcoming girl group, not 6 months rookie babymonster struggling to fight hybe ggs, ive, aespa and gidle.

That, all the controversies and that blackpink was never really that profitable outside their endorsements, for example their online concert during the pandemic was a total success marketing wise and made $10M... but the whole thing was still in red numbers because to create all that buzz they needed to expend a lot of money. And more of less everything from bp was like that, in red numbers or barely profitable, the thing I think yg got a lot of profit from blackpink was born pink world tour and from there is the company is still surviving, they would be way worse without that.

Treasure last comeback was almost one year ago, their japan tour ended 3 months ago and they should have a "world tour" announced with advancements in USA and Europa by now if they were popular enough for that, but instead already have planned for the rest of the year a japan fanmeeting in arenas lol, this is nuts. So in the last 10 months while the other big companies hybe, sm and jyp probably sold more than 10M of albums and got multiple acts doing tours, yg has barely done anything remotely comparable. They lost all blackpink solo endorsements and now 0 group activities, bigbang members all left the company, only 2 active groups, if a miracle don't happen we will return to "Big 3" companies with yg being to below the rest.
