Catgirls review of ILLIT pt.2 - So what are they missing?

  • Well, kind of everything
You can see it right on the spot when you view any picture of them

don't you feel like there is something missing? because I do
    Story pin image
they kind of... just don't look good together.
What they are missing is definetely charisma and chemistry. Some members kind of don't fit the concept. Like with Babymonster, it just kinda feels forced sometimes.

It's the same with their brand film

    this just feels unnatural
And we are talking about Wonhee, who is kind of the essential member.

My point is, nobody really stands out. A lot of people already said this with NewJeans, and even though I partly agree (the only face I could remember when they debuted was Minji) they still had something. Idk what but both them and Le Sserafim have something that ILLIT doesn't have.
Talking about Attention, Hyein and Minji were the most recognisable. Hyein had this kind of confidence and charisma. Minji had classic beauty. Hanni was the cute girl with the pigtails. Dani and Haerin... well, in Attention they didn't shine much, but their Hype Boy MV showcased them.
And we're talking about visuals only right now. Their music misses something as well. Their voices are nice and all, but it's just so unoriginal/nothing new. Everyone was talking about Attention and how fresh it sounded. Fearless... Well, it wasn't talked about in that way, but everyone could easily remember "What you lookin at?". And Blue Flame was loved.

But... ILLIT just doesn't have something important. Please actually help me to find what it is. I've never really felt like this about a K-Pop group yet.

  • it's really a shame though I want to see Iroha, Yunah, Moka and Minju in a teen crush or girl crush concept since that iswhere most of their strength lies.

like icb Belift wasted this potential just because easy listening songs is a trend now :sweatr1:

    Iroha

  • the problem w this is that iroha and yunah seem 'off'

ify seeing their debut stage I kinda feel disappointed ngl I know they tried their best to suit the concept but from someone who watched R U Next I just knew they could have delivered more... it's not the best song nor concept for them to show their potential and talent... we'll see on their next stages :drinktears:

  • i kinda agree.

Yunah and Iroha shine more in teen girl crush type. You can check videos those other users put above.

And Minju..she really has unique tone vocal that unfortunately didnt show up in this debut.

    Check she in :

About Moka actually she can fit in any genre.

But they just debuted. They can be better in the future.

  • Thanks for the thread. Finally I can rant what's been on my mind after watching their stages ytd.

    - I dislike the MV, I feel they're trying too hard to match New Jeans's debut vibe but failed. This is about aesthetics, not musically.

    - They truly don't look very natural performing especially Minju and Yunah. For some reasons, their RUNext performances were better than their debut, ironically. Their choreography looks so lazy and uninspired (again, RUNext choreography was better).

    - Title track is good but this overly girly childish concept isn't really my vibe. This song is getting old fast. Their b-sdes aren't good enough for me.

    - I still don't understand why the company suddenly become unhealthily obsessed with Wonhee and chose her to be their center and made the concept circling around her vibe while ignoring other girls' strong points.

    - Iroha's bang is a crime. They picked her because of her dance skill but there's no way in hell she could show off her skills with this girly concept and weird choreography.

    - Youngseo's leaving before debut becomes more and more clear to me now: She doesn't like the direction of the group and since she's rich, she doesn't want to do what she doesn't like.

    - I feel so bad for Yunah and Minju. BGGB showed they had so much more in them than being forced to a concept that doesn't suit them. Because this is their last chance, they have to accept it. I even suspect the company forced them to say that they like girly concept to shut people up.

    - I'm starting to think maybe Jeemin dodged a bullet because she would suit TBL's vibe more (iland2)

  • Omg this is sad, I had no idea who these girls were and after seeing yesterday stage I would never imagine they could pull off these kind of stages. Esp Yunah, Minju and Moka girl there is so much potential there.

Hybe did them dirty with that copy pasta concept. They could have brought in a new concept centered around these girls strengths and go big.

I find this very sad. I really thought the girls were meh lol
