Yeah, after all Israelis didn't need any. They just talked nice to Hamas and Hamas apologized politely for trespassing and left.
As with all of these shootings, this appears to be yet another mental health issue - authorities knew about this guy for a long time and did nothing. Laws were already in place to prevent this incident, but they were not used.

Yes, Israelis put their faith in government to protect them. And were betrayed. Israelis live in a very bad neighborhood, and cannot afford to delegate their personal security to feckless politicians.
The USA also requires Federal background checks before all gun purchases. There seems to be some popular myth out there that this is not done. What wasn't done in this case resulted from our very lax mental health safeguards. Progressives insist there is no such thing as mental illness and set public policy accordingly. This is an all-too-common result.

The criteria for background checks in this country is a joke.
If guns rights wackjobs are so insistent that it's a mental health issue, that should come with the common sense that former criminals and people with a history of mental health issues shouldn't have guns. Not the below bare minimum standard not being a felon or being institutionalized, but actual checks. Ones that shouldn't rely on the honesty police and 10 minute computerized background checks.
There's a difference between assuming everyone is guilty and making sure everyone is competent
