What are your thoughts on Kpop fanfics?

I'm more of an enjoyer of fanfics with only original characters than other type of pairing, including celebrities. Although, I don't condemn the ship as long as both are adults. If the plot catches my attention enough, I might give a chance, but It's rare.

Most of these fanfics are written in fan spaces where only other fans join and engage. So I don't really think It's the big deal people think It is.

Disclaimer: I dont read any myself

Pros: it's a better hobby than mindless consumption

Cons: real people, i'd feel weird if someone wrote fan fic about me

I think it is fine unless the people involved tell the people to stop making them.

Back in the day there were kind of like official fanfic if that makes sense. Korean Variety shows like We Got Married where celebrities would pretend to be married couples etc. Also, Mnet had an idol reality dating show back in the day.

I used to read them once upon a time, but have grown out of it now. It's okay I guess as it's only fictional, but not when they are overly sexual or smutty or contain force upon someone. I feel uncomfortable with those now.

i remember that i was so obsessed with harry potter fanfics that just upturned everything the ending jk rowling provided or question her worldbuilding because her ending whack (i still resent that one of harry's kids named albus severus, if he become serial killer as adult i'd not question his motive)

so maybe in that sense kpop fanfics is great? something subversive just borrowing kpop idols' persona into original story. like, obviously jimin is not waste sellers in hyper space dystopian today, but his image and mannerism make it easier to visualize the story in my head

but yeah if the story is something in current context i get how that's icky

each to their own as long as one doesn't act on any of fantasies and go all sasaeng or something it's harmless

It was fun to do as a young kpop fan. It made me feel like a part of the fandom and community.

With time I sort of grew out of it. And RPF didn’t hit the way it did with age lol.

Anyway I fully support its existence.

Writing and reading fics about real people is creepy af and disturbing. Especially sexually explicit acts, REALLY explicit acts. Many fic writers are delulus and genuinely believe what they write is true. Their readers as well. Luckily, it doesn't affect jungkook and tae but it did affect Harry and Louis, they ruined their friendship
