How rich the producer/composer/song writer of top kpop groups like BTS and BP are?

  • How much royalties they got?

I remembered that months ago there was a thread that talking about the average income of a kpop song producer (and it's good sum of money). But top groups like BTS or BP is not your average group. Their songs are played in many place on this earth, heck even my grandma was jamming to ddu ddu ddu ddu back then. I only know about Exy and Soyeon. Some WJSN members are envious for her royalties, and it was being said that when SSE haven't give the girls their paycheck yet, it was Exy who give the money to the girls (well maybe except Bona and Soobin). Soyeon is more or less the same. Heck even the latest info about this is, She is the one who paid the overtime fees for their tour because people want encore.

But once again, groups like BTS and BP are on another level. So I wonder, how rich their producer are? (or for the members that are making their own songs)

because the only thing that are being talked about are on the group's side or the company side.
I wonder about from the songmaker's side.

  • On the 1st half of 2021, PDogg earned around 34m USD. He has worked with BTS for 10 years...
That's only information I can find. I'm not sure how much he has earned for 2022-2023.

    shit, that was crazy ^^

regarding 2022-2023, how much songs that he worked on both with the group or solos? (considering that this year, the rate of released songs are high since the members had solo right?)

  • I Made a thread on what a producer said about this topic.

But this only applies to physical sales, not everything else

  • omg ur grandma slays. a bit off topic, but i randomly introduced my grandma to newjeans and basically the one thing she noticed was how their hair was so straight, and long. LOLLLL

if there is no war in the 50s and global audition is a thing, I think my grandma would try it.
Anw, introduce your grandma to the 2nd gen ggs or 1st gen ggs, they have "creative" hairstyle

he earned most from Hybe stocks

Pdogg's salary for 1st half of 2021 was $30K+$100k in bonuses and 34M in stock options(after hybe went public they gifted stocks)

They never revealed his earnings from royalties

  • i only remember an article or a quote that said that Namjoons royalties could feed his next 5 generations.

maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but seeing how he has a hand in 95% of bts' music and 100% of his own, i'm sure he is making BANK on just his royalties. Also, i think bts' coproducer Pdogg was recently titled "the highest-paid employee in South Korea - outranking some of the country's richest business leaders"?

so, that probably tells you a lot too.

highly likely, since like I've mentioned, Soyeon or even Exy that only have a little fraction could earn well. So it wouldn't be too far if his royalties could somehow feed at least a generation

  • I'd say seventeen are also on this other level because Woozi not only produces music for his group, he also produces music for other idols, soloists, drama's, OST, movies etc.

  • producing for big stars pays very well

I can't quote a number but when Yoongi produced That that, rest of the members were teasing him about his production fees so it's safe to say that they charge enough that even millionaires tease each other about the fees ;judgingpepe:

I have heard that renowned producers charge bigger upfront fees for the songs rather than waiting for royalties which mostly depend on the song's performance

Imagine producing for BTS' 40 million-seller discography since the beginning then :wow:

  • It is already hard to say how much they earn. Another thing is wealth is very hard to estimate only by income. We have to take account what kind of lifestyle they have. Do they spend most of their money or do they invest most of money? Rich people often have multiple source of income. Usually the best way to build wealth is building your own company and sell it later for profit. Teddy have his own company Theblacklabel? If he is the main shareholder of the company, he may become extremely rich if it does well.

right, and it can't be helped since most of them are private.
