  • If there is a high demand they will increase the capacity or move to a new venue. Happened many times. Instead of complaining on twitter they should be queueing to show a great demand.

    Not with SM

They just dip even if things sell out fast they rarely move to add new dates or make the venue bigger

  • SM has always been bad with arranging tours. It's usually unorganized with low capacity. The concerts ends up being too jammed pack many times.

It's a liability at this point, they need to reevaluate.

Maybe cuz they don't see strong demand? In the end company's have more tools to check demand than us. They can look at Youtube, Spotify analytics, album shipments and tell exactly where the main interest comes from. That's exactly how most decisions are being made.

  • I prefer to believe companies don't book venues thoughtless, cause It's waste of money. They do researches and check the demand out. Most of the time, even If they book small venues with demand, It means that, or they are planning to add extra dates or the act will come back soon.

Selling 2.4M albums in 2022 doesn't mean a significative portion of these albums came from these areas.

It's better to sell out and then complain.

  • Meh. Is it underestimating if it's a structural pattern that they have with most/all of their groups? :wellr:

Aside from SM having always been the weakest/most ineffective/weirdest of the Big 3 (Big 4) when it comes to protecting, promoting or brand building their groups, they also have the habit of being overtly cautious and cost aware when it comes to concert tours (which is 1 of the reasons Super Junior demanded full control as a sublabel so they could handle this kinda stuff themselves) and album stocks.

Although they've become better at preventing shortage and understocking their groups' album releases in recent times, even going as far as restocking albums of past years. But the huge sales of restocked RV albums from years ago also proves the point of SM's notoriously structural understocking of their groups' albums before and their cautious approach regarding some aspects.
