[First Listen] Jimin- Set Me Free Pt.2

Hello guys, thinking of re-starting my first listen/reviews for quite some time now. May even go for a new first listen format.

Let’s see what Jimin got in store for us!

Things I liked :-

1. The choir is so fcking good and trumpet + drums gives me strong “Industry Baby” by Lil Nas vibes. The production is immaculate.

2. Some part of the verses and pre-chorus part at 1:00 were really good. I’m noticing improvement in his delivery and overall vocals.

Things I didn’t like :-

1. Vocal Processing is terrible. Straight up garbage.

2. Could’ve used a different slight altered chorus in the latter half of the song.

3. Went overboard with vocal delivery choice in processed part.

Rating :- 6.75/10

Conclusion :- Even though there were things that were not that good and brought down the song ultimately in the end. But, my god, the production + first chorus combo is excellent. So, it’s kinda love-hate relationship (more like like-dislike tbh).

I really like the direction he’s trying for. Kudos to him. But here’s the problem, He lacks the commanding presence in his voice and delivery. But it was alright nonetheless.

It’s not that I completely loathe the vocal processing. In the second half, it went way overboard for me to ignore it.

However, the choir was really great. I got chills the first time I heard.

I am such a goner for that choir I can't even be bothered with the second verse's vocal processing. It doesn't disturb me that much anyway. I just love this song. And Jimin's voice (or voice color) have a wow factor to it wich makes his vocals literally pop. Even as an army I don't like every Bts or Bts solo releases, still, it's kind of funny that I love the one that gets to be controversal even within the fandom. But I do think they did Jimin dirty with that second verse because this song is hit-worthy... That choir... Damn...
