but there is some new era animation and storyline
I like the Dragon Ball Super Hero movie and New Trigun 2023
but overall anime 80s to 90s
definitely more mature looking design and storyline
especially some art style like Slam Dunk , City Hunter , Cats Eyes ,Gundam Wing and G
even the 50 to 70s cartoon is better than current moe anime( the worst most dislike type of anime) for me

Hi, I plan to watch some classics from the golden era and travel through anime history. I am a begginer so i would rather not watch something too long. Any essential movies/shows?
I have watched:
There's definitely a sense of magic with 80-90s anime. The art style, the sound track, the overall darker tone, it's a feeling i can't easily describe. But I also really like 2000s and 2010s anime too. I actually prefer 2000s anime over everything else. It just takes me back to being a child and watching One Piece, Yu Gi Oh and Naruto and wishing I was part of that world

Call me a boomer I don't care. The animation from this era is way better to me. I much prefer the imperfection and rough look to todays super bright crystal clear no personality animation.
Also the music was better back then.
This thread was inspired by my recent first time watch of "Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water (1990)".
I'm on the same boat! cel animation clears! I only watch 70-90s anime with a few exceptions from 2000s like fooly cooly, monster, mushishi and satoshi kon's work
Anime is one of those things I never got in to, I watch both Japenese/korean movies, drams and listen to kpop/jpop, but anime is just one of those things I don't get why grown up watch, with the exeption of the big anime moves that are very well made and look very good. I have only really watch one anime, "Girls und Panzer" and that one acctually was bit fun but that it mainly because of my intrest in WW2 so you get a bit giggle from watching it.
