You're so funny, ily.
It uses the death game trope (like The Hunger Games, Ready or Not, or Squid Game). So our titular character Arisu ("Alice") gets transported to a world where he has to play deadly games -- where he will die if he doesn't play the game, but playing the game may also kill him. The twist AiB takes on the trope is that all of the games are themed after cards in a standard 52 card deck, where the number indicates the difficulty and the suit indicates the type of game. Spades are physical games, clubs require teamwork, hearts require you to understand other people, and diamonds are logic. So the series is watching him meet with other people who got transported to this land, and them working together to try to understand the land and how to get back home. Or if they even want to, dun dun dun!
I really love it. It treats characters very tactfully, like my profile picture is Kuina (spoiler for people who are very touchy about learning facts):
who is revealed to be transgender. In her flashback scenes that reveal her childhood and what led her to this point, although her father is MEAN, her mother embraces her after she comes out and says only "You look so beautiful." No one ever misgenders her or treats her gender like a joke. She's also a total badass who knows karate and grows into her confidence to be there for her friends.
