This must've hurt

  • A YT-channel that I don't know poped up in recomendations

The channel said they will stop with videos

One guy said he was so happy as he woke up seeing they reached 1 million subscriber and wanted to imediatly contact YT to get the 1 million playbutton. He called his friend who runs the channel with him and who has the access to the channel-settings. His friend than walked to the PC to see if the 1 million was real and than saw his channel got a copyright claim that will most likly put their channel at risk of getting deleted.

How sad must it be to have your happy day and also a bad day at once

  • Thats really sad </3

but as long as he hasn't done it 3 times

    and solved the issue

i think they will be fine ( which YT btw?)

Wait so now I'm confused...was it a copyright claim or copyright strike that was issued?

Because a claim is just a warning, the video might not be available for monetization or it may be restricted in some or all countries. A strike is how your channel can get terminated. Like a baseball game: three strikes and you're out. If you get three copyright strikes then your channel is terminated. I'm not sure if a strike is permanent or not once you receive it but companies and others with the copyright can decide how badly to copyright your video. And they can file to issue a copyright strike from what I've seen...

So i think what the person can do is fix the video to remove the audio that got striked and keep it up, but audio has to be removed or changed

Or they can take the video Down

Youtbers are extremely careful these days cause of the copyright claim system and are always making sure they dont get copyright strike

so i don't think that guy should give up on youtube, it isnt too big of a deal :yesr:

Well, copyright strikes are issued by the copyrighter themselves. So, for example, if you played copyrighted content on YouTube from Nintendo, Nintendo can go to your channel and file to give you how ever many strikes they deem necessary. Strikes are pretty serious business. Copyright claims are annoying but they won't hurt your channel at least as much as getting it deleted. And copyright strikes expire after 90 days. But if you get three, then your account is permanently deleted and you are not allowed to make others.

And from my understanding, with a copyright strike you can't simply just take out the copyrighted audio. After you get one, you have to wait until it expires (after 90 days) or contact the issuer and attempt to get them to remove it. Like once it's issued, it's not as easy to fix as a copyright strike which you can simply omit the copyrighted audio or clip and you're good in most cases. Also, copyright on YouTube is not limited to just audio, as with anything else. It can be applied to art, photos, literature, video clips, audio, etc. So in some cases, you can't just omit the audio...

I think that if it was a just a copyright claim, then it would've been dramatic. But if it was a strike, then I don't blame him for getting so angry that he just wants to quit the platform even with his large following.
