Why are rookie boy groups this year(TNX, ATBO,…) so behind girl groups?

Every year, there’s always a hit boy group and girl group debut, like Txt-Itzy, Enhypen-Aespa. But this year, girl groups are so far ahead. What is the reason for the difference?

How many times is the same question going to be answered?

There are no boy groups from big companies that have debuted.

That's it.

You guys act like this is some kind of new phenomenon but it's not. If the group isn't from a Big 4 company or from a VERY VERY popular survival show then they make no noise. IVE is the only group who debuted in 2021 that made noise.

OK, obviously people will say because the GGs are Big 4,

But even if we don't compare to GGs. Are their numbers unusual for a non big 4 BG in first year?

BTW, since this list is total of all their sales, Younite is probably actually the least popular of all BGs here and TNX and ATBO are probably more popular overall

Do you think rookie boy groups deserve to flop so much this year?

No hate just curious cause no one’s talking about rookie bgs. ATBO, Tnx, Xdinary Heroes,… all put out solid music, not to mention they’re great dancers, can play instrument, can self-produce,… but none can crack 100K sales and are absent on charts, meanwhile Lsrfm/Nwjns effortlessly sells 500K and destroy Melon/Spotify. Do you think rookie boy groups deserve better?

I made a similar reply there asking if those numbers are particularly low for a non big 4 BG rookie, cause it really doesn't seem unusually low or something

Best-selling 2021 rookies in the debut year (total all their albums 2021-Jan 2022)

Best selling 2021 rookies as of Aug. 15 2022 (total 2021-Aug 2022)

It took Omega X and Epex 1 to 2 years to be more than 200k in total adding all their albums

Best selling 2020 rookies as of Aug. 15 2022 (total 2020-Aug 2022)

Cravity, WEi, P1Harmony (also a 2020 debut) were also here only after 2 to 3 years

(With Cravity's sales being significantly higher)

Best-selling 2020 BG debut albums (Debut releases' sales only)

So, if you just compare best selling 2022 rookies in their debut year to the first statistic (best selling 2021 rookies in their debut year), nothing seems unsusual

And the fourth statistic shows that sales for debut albums don't seem amiss either (even if you were to add it up with their 2nd album)
