Give me advice in this self-sabotage scenario

  • Give me advice in this self-sabotage scenario

So there is a good possibility that I get a good career opportunity in another country. The catch is that I have to finish my current project within the next 3 month. Now for whatever reason Im just dragging my feet on this project. For the life of me I cant figure out why Im being like this. I usually never like this.

Im totally self-sabotaging myself and Idk why

I cant ask much advice from friend and family bc they are biased and they dont want me to move to another county. ;(;(;(

  • To me the answer seems obvious: burnout. You're going through some Senioritis very late in life. If you got this opportunity, it's probably because you've been working a lot and doing really well, which is great! However, it's possible to work so much that you become tired of working and it takes a huge toll on you. Obviously I don't know this for sure, but that's my current hunch. My advice is, if possible, to take a complete and total break from work stuff (as much as you can) for at least a week. Do fun things instead and relax. Hopefully by then you'll feel much more refreshed and productive. Who knows, maybe it'll even help you complete your work faster in the long run, as opposed to pushing through to it.

  • maybe you subconsciously don't want to leave for that other country???

change is a bit step for all people and I take it you will be away from family and friends and basically starting out in a new country where you don't have the social support that you have currently

IIm actually really excited about moving somewhere new

Its 80% reason why I want the job

I guess which is why I said subconsciously? like maybe you know you want the opportunity to move and do something new but there's a part of you that misses stability and consistency???

  • maybe you have something unfinished here that's making you want to stick back longer? maybe your heart has another priority?

  • Further proof you are an international spy

  • i hope everything works out for the better though. rooting for you, lulu <3

maybe the project is a bit too ambitious? is it possible to scale back?

  • You don't like the actual work enough to light a bigger fire under your ass :eyes: (I speak from experience)

The job is similar to what I have now but a bigger scope which is sth I have been wanting :(

  • Is the place you are moving to not up to your expectations or something? Because moving to somewhere else can be both exciting and scary !! But if you think the opportunity is worth it then you shouldn't get cold feet

it sounds/looks like a place I would love to move

  • I've had that happen too and I think it was because I was looking forward to the new opportunity a bit too much. I just wanted to finally leave my old job behind and get to the fun, new experience immediately.

I got out of my funk by giving myself regular little pep-talks, reminding myself what I was working for, and crossing off days in a calendar. It helped to get me motivated.
