My bet is they got bribed to stir up drama. The authorities in Korea are well known to use celebrity scandals to distract from political scandals, so the fact that multiple dating rumors are popping up right when the government is under heavy fire is pretty expected.

True, and it could certainly be a coincidence, but the timing is also right for government diversionary tactics to be a factor, so I'm just suspicious is all. Could be that they're reserving the big guns (scandals from more famous people) for if the criticism becomes more severe, such as large scale calls for impeachments and resignations

People like to paint SK population as some sorta of celeb crazy crowd that they forget everything else in life for their celebs. That is simply false and a terrible narrative to push.

Nah it's a real thing, and it's actually done in many (if not all) countries. Korea just does it really uncreatively, and their authorities are really bad at not getting caught being corrupt, so it's extremely easy to pick up the pattern. Some celebrities who've been used against their will have even called the practice out, though nothing ever gets done about it. Not that there's really much that can be done I guess. If people get too wise to it and it stops working entirely, they'll just get more creative with the distractions. Or do like what they did with Sewol and make it illegal to talk about
