(Not hate) Why do you think Kep1er is not appealing to the masses as much as other groups made from similar competitions?

Prefacing this with repeating that this is not a hate thread but a discussion thread and as such should not have hate replies, just general discussion so please stay polite even if we're on anon.

I feel like the group has a few standout members and the visual balance is off.

All the foreign members are positively standing out for me while the Korean members barely have presence in some cases with some exceptions.

Xiaoting eats the whole group and stands out so much. She could go solo for sure. Some member don't feel like a fit to me.

Knetz voted for their Korean trainees but voted in some people who weren't exactly ready to debut or were a fit for the group and sound and now don't even follow the group.

I'm staying on anon because I don't want to be attacked by people who assume this is an attack. This isn't attack, it's at best a discussion and at worst a case study.

I'm a little confused why you said they are not appealing to the masses. They are definitely getting just as much attention as the other Produce groups just because they are from an Mnet survival show. (Not based on specific stats, but just because they are clearly in the top sector of groups/sales)

Or maybe you mean that although they are in the top sector of groups, most people find them mediocre. (Just like how NMIXX is near the top of the pyramid, yet they don't appeal to most people).

At first I was thinking maybe this is cause of their songs. But I feel like WDD and Up are songs that are on par with all Produce groups' songs and appeal to the average listeners.

I agree about they don't have members that stand out, for me none of them really have much of a strong presence except for Chaehyun. But I feel like for most groups including Produce groups, only 1-2 members stand out and sometimes no members at all stand out, so it's normal.

So idk I don't really feel like Kep1er is appealing to people less at all. I agree, no one will ever say they are as legendary or unique as the Produce groups. However, they still are gaining a lot of interest from people and will leave a legacy in the K-pop world, mainly because they came from an Mnet survival show.

Honestly I don't see any difference between produce and the gp reality, they are the same kind as izone and ioi, the only difference is that this group have chinese participants as possible candidats so sk boycott it, but even by their numbers they are on the same track as izone and ioi, selling above 300k and having mediocre results in digital platforms

Kepler are definitely not on the same track as Iz*One and IOI.

IOI had a completely different kind of buzz throughout their short 8-month career. Pick Me was everywhere and so were Veryx3 - so much that they were the only Produce group to get a PAK even though they had the shortest time as a group. They had TONS of endorsements right out the gate and their members were essentially everywhere from variety shows to acting dramas.

Iz*One was not as trendy to the GP, but they still had well-known members and got a big fanbase through their longer contract periods. They were popular in Japan and had high album sales.

Kepler has nowhere near the buzz as IOI or Iz*One both on the public front and the fanbase. And to be honest, none of the members has yet to appear on any major TV variety shows and are essentially nugu to the public. They don't have recognisable songs or members or their team brand as a whole.

I think maybe OP is referring to appealing to the masses like to the general public. Produce groups like IOI and Wanna One had a lot more public interest, and you can see this by how much more endorsements they had, their variety show appearances/guestings and the general attention they get domestically.

I mean, IOI and W1 were everywhere on TV, on Yoo Jae-suk's shows, Knowing Bros and such, their songs were played and covered everywhere as well.

Even comparing Kepler to other top girl groups of this gen, IVE and NewJeans are the ones with the public appeal. Tbh Kepler is nowhere near where a typical Produce group should be, and neither is any of their members popular like that like a "Nation's center" or even a popular trendy member.

wtf are you lying? Just say you don't know anything about other produce groups. During their time Iz*One was a 4th gen group competing with top third gen groups like Blackpink, Twice, and Red Velvet. Same thing for I.O.I Meanwhile, who tf is Kep1er competing with? Nmixx for the bottom of the charts? Bffr.

The music isn't that good. And honestly the fandom is so toxic with their internal fightings that Bahiyyah stans and OT8 stans regularly have. I guess it would be draining to be a part of their fandom.

Now why are you lying, Izone never competed with BP, Twice and RV, maybe on album sales but thats all, digitals, impact, streams, lets not even get into international popularity, they don't hold a candle to 3rd gen top ggs
