Why is NCT doing so much fanservice this comeback?

  • Linking arms, backhugging with fans,…more fanservice than usual and more than other groups. Why are they stepping up?

  • someone has to keep the lights on at SM after aespa's comeback being the biggest flop of the year

  • They don't remember what you would or wouldn't do before Covid restrictions, it's the Wild West again.

  • someone has to keep the lights on at SM after aespa's comeback being the biggest flop of the year

aespa sold over a million albums.

    That’s not flopping.

As always, y’all just be saying anything.

It’s been over 2 years since they’ve their fans and they’re successful. Not surprised they’re happy to see them.

  • This is their final album. Full focus on taeyong and jaehyun solos from next year. Mark and haechan back to dream. Winwin is already in china, time for yuta to go back to japan. Taeil to military. Johnny and doyoung are not relevant enough to push them. Johnny might join nct hollywood. This is their last comeback as a group.

Tell me you know nothing about NCT.

It’s not their last comeback as a group, although probably their last cb with Taeil.

Taeil is amazing, however, EXO have shown that a group can continue without one (or more!) of its key main vocals during enlistment years. There’s a reason that this album and Sticker have included more of the other members’ vocals (to prep listeners for enlistment era) and the same reason Jaehyun and Johnny have moved to the center more (partly to ease the load on Ty’s back and I think to prep for his enlistment in a few years.)

Doyoung is very popular in Korea and pushed quite a bit. He’s a permanent member of a TV show and popular on variety and as an actor, as well as OSTs, not to mention his successful musical theater run. In Korea, he is consistently rated as one of the most popular members. It’s usually Jaehyun, Doyoung and Mark/Jungwoo. (Internationally, it’s more like Taeyong, Jaehyun and Mark.)

Winwin isn’t even in 127 so not sure of the relevance to this discussion. But FWIW he’s actually in KOREA right now, which all the members of WayV, including him have been posting about. Yes, it’s probably his last album with WayV, but I think we all knew that it would end up like Lay when they said he’d masks his own studio.

  • Aespa bringing album sales, cfs , concert and digital while nct only has album sales and concert.

    :pepe-cringe:

    Touring:

Aespa touring this year attendance: 50k

NCT: 326K (with more concerts coming this year)

    Physicals:

    Aespa: 1.4M

NCT: 4.4M* (still counting Baddies, and not counting a repack or NCT 2022)

Most NCT concerts have also been live-streamed on the paid Beyond Live, which adds additional revenue to the totals.

The concert totals above are only their own concerts and doesn’t include festivals where NCT is the headliner, which is another profit stream (they are paid to appear and it’s more profitable since the company is not carrying all the logistics costs.)

Digitals in Korea don’t make up that sales gap on touring and albums.

An area you didn’t mention is merchandise, which is another huge profit stream for SM. NCT has more merch and sells more merch, partly due to the number of members and partly by the sheer volume of types of products. Part of this is because many of NCT’s CFs are tied up in merchandising deals, so the company takes a percentage of those sales too, whether it’s Nature Republic makeup or Sanrio pajamas. Not as flashy as designer brands, but more profitable.

CFs also don’t make up the sales gap, particularly since NCT also has CFs with major brands like Puma, and as noted, often has merchandise tied in with it.

NCT members also have solo CFs with brands like MAC and Prada, so the company is double-dipping: taking a portion of the group and solo CFs.

Aespa is doing great and even more so as a still new gg. They are definitely changing the game for gg and showing a gg can move like a bg. But they are not bringing in more to the company.

I can’t wait to see the power they have when they too are a 6 year old group.

  • NCT have 3 million spotify streams and sm had to pay for 90% of their YouTube views after 10 days. Nugu groups have better numbers than nct. The least they can do is fan service. This comeback proved nctzens are true visual and photocard stans. I hope nctzens will start listening to nct songs some day.

  • Thank you anon

because of you i finally know who I am

    I'm a proud photocard stan.

  • aespa got high end deals like intel, chopard, mediheal, lotte duty free. Cf deals is bringing much more money than album sales.

    Aespa merchandise always sold out

Where's NCT on this list by the way?

1 gaon point equal to 1 won so aespa making 1.252.487.508 this year alone so far

Aespa streams are better than whole NCT combined

While Dream and 127 have album sales and concert. NCT whole brand isn't making more net profit than aespa if we combining all units since wayV is flopping and new NCT members barely making any money.

  • Jealous, OP? I get it.
