Guys, what's wrong with 3 member groups?

There's nothing wrong with them, but companies like more members because it increases the chances that fans will find a member to like.
More members also allows for more interesting dance formations/transitions and spreads focus in dance formations, so if you have someone who isn't as strong, they don't have to be the sole focus point. Same logic goes for singing: more members allows for someone who isn't as strong to be covered by those who are better.
Lastly, if you have a three-member group, injuries and sickness and even just outside projects can become a problem. In a larger group, one of the members can take time off and no one blinks, but with only three members, if one isn't there, it's a problem. It constrains both the members' personal lives, and their abilities to do activities outside the group. So it's more demanding on small groups to promote than larger ones
You can have three member groups, it's just harder on the members in some ways than it would be in a larger group.
