lol, cuz they have a bit of an old school rnb vibe that is currently different from what's on the market and they have a fresh, girls next door, relatable image.
I personally don't find the image that compelling (but I'm not their target) and I found two of their four songs kinda boring, but I did enjoy the other two. I think they would have found some success without hybe, just not the huge success they did find.

The GP reaction shows that this is more than just some overblown hype. Lessarafim had the hype but still wasn’t as fast accepted (talking about pre-Garam scandal) as New Jeans. People who deny the whole Y2K revival trend are detached from current trends. It’s not as if they invented it. Just look at Instagram and Tiktok. Music is up to the eye of the beholder, so I don’t judge anyone on that. To say that they would flop as a nugu group is firstly not a good argument since groups with subjectively good songs flop and second most of the songs’ producer and songwriter have produced known SM songs.
