  • Yes, obviously, as they should be. It drives me absolutely crazy when people compare artists against the best in the field. Like no duh the nugu group didn't outsell BTS. No duh the soloist from the mid-tier group didn't chart better than IU.


    We should compare artists to their past successes and/or to expectations. Yena is doing amazing selling 100K with her second album. It's not better than Taeyeon, but it doesn't need to be. If the company is smart, they aren't spending more than their artist can reasonably recoup anyway.

    As a fan, I adjust my standards of what is successful for the groups I follow based on their past performances.


    If my faves are considered to be underperforming, I will be happy when they do better than they did the last time.


    That performance should not affect how much you love and celebrate the music or the group though. That's what is called being a success stan.
