why is everything that isnt noise music called "boring" or "outdated"?

  • ive noticed that every group that doesnt release noise music garbage gets criticism, called boring or outdated or just straight up bad

the ones on the top of my head:

    1. twices more recent releases (just called bad)

    2. ive (boring apparently)

    3. stayc (earlier concepts were called out of trend by some and refreshing by their fans but the most recent comeback was called boring/bad)

    4. new jeans (heard a mix of boring to bad and only surviving off big4 privielege apparently)

    5. le sserafim (didnt really see a lot of criticism for their song because garam took all the attention but the few that i did see was just saying that girl crush was overdone and they were nothing new/special and just getting big4 privelege as well)

    6. blackpink (apparently outdated and boring even though none of these noise music groups have come close to bp in global popularity)

    7. bts (same criticisms as blackpink with a mix of just releasing boring generic pop songs to appeal to the west even though their "boring generic pop songs" have outperformed every other kpop song exept psy)

i think i covered all of them? or atleast the ones i know of.

  • IVE never boring Who said it??

There is reason why they have such a good streaming number and charting both internationally and domestically.

  • Let’s not call noise music as “garbage”. Music is subjective. Anw, I think a portion of the ones commenting usually come from stans who enjoy listening to aespa and nct 127 music so they have a superiority complex of calling songs boring when there are probably a bunch of “boring” laidback songs in their discography too. But same thing could be said for stans who doesn’t like “noise” music though.

  • "noise music" doesn't necessarily need to be bad but this is a great example of how the 4th gen has brainwashed everyone into thinking a song that doesn't mix 49274823849 different experimental sounds together is "boring".

i personally saw lots of people criticizing fearless for being "bland" just because it didn't have a super duper loud beat drop at the end when it was one of the best-sounding debuts in the past few years.

  • Who said that? I don't think the majority of kpop fans say that at all.

I also don't think criticisms are limited to only the songs that aren't 'noise' music. The usage of the term 'noise' is already a bash towards some songs. Basically all songs get criticised or trashed at least by some people who don't like them.

Did you expect songs to be liked by everyone?

There will ALWAYS be people who don't like a song, no matter which song, because everyone has different tastes and preferences.

  • People who use "noise" as an insult live in a different reality and have a severe persecution complex, I swear. You are the ones who have brainwashed yourselves into believing that not only is simplistic easy listening music (not like that can't be good) inherently better than anything that features more than 3 instruments, but also that the tyrannical committee of noise stans are persecuting you and your faves for liking and releasing basic pop in a pop music industry.

    1. twices more recent releases (just called bad)

But people don't say that about their old releases retroactively. There is no way you can consider their old songs "noisy" therefore it's obvious that people are referring to another sort of change in their music. (It's the producer changes, I'll help you out.)

    2. ive (boring apparently)

Maybe some people say that but many ifans clearly like their songs. You're giving too much weight to a few comments.

    3. stayc (earlier concepts were called out of trend by some and refreshing by their fans but the most recent comeback was called boring/bad)

"out of trend"? I don't believe that, So Bad was released around the retro wave, while Asap was a tiktok friendly sounding song. Most people liked those two and Stereotype. The difference with their most recent comeback is that the song is slow, not anything about the loudness, arrangement, or composition.

    4. new jeans (heard a mix of boring to bad and only surviving off big4 privielege apparently)

Be honest could a smaller company debuting a group out of nowhere create this much buzz?

And yeah the song is kind of one-note...

    5. le sserafim (didnt really see a lot of criticism for their song because garam took all the attention but the few that i did see was just saying that girl crush was overdone and they were nothing new/special and just getting big4 privelege as well)

Give up on the privilege criticism, if you stan a hybe group out of all companies, even big 3, you should simply accept the fact.

Why are you even mentioning them if you didn't see criticism for the song? What does the concept have to do with the music?

    6. blackpink (apparently outdated and boring even though none of these noise music groups have come close to bp in global popularity)

A lot of people call BP noisy. I don't think it makes their music bad, but Teddy is indeed stuck in 2016 and sticks to predictable formulas.

    7. bts (same criticisms as blackpink with a mix of just releasing boring generic pop songs to appeal to the west even though their "boring generic pop songs" have outperformed every other kpop song exept psy)

BTS' recent music is usually criticised in context of their own discography and career. People aren't comparing them to, say, NCT, when they call their songs boring, but to BTS themselves.

  • It’s ironic that you’re complaining about people calling songs boring while you call other songs garbage.
