According to News1 on July 15th, Mnet’s survival show “I-LAND 2”, which was scheduled to premiere this year, has been temporarily delayed. This is reportedly a decision to make the program more structured.
“I-LAND” is a survival reality show that depicts the process of the birth of next-generation K-pop idols. It is a joint project between HYBE Labels and CJ ENM. Launched in 2020, the boy group ENHYPEN, which was formed through “I-LAND” season 1, has established a solid position in the K-pop industry. They became a million-seller in the first year of their debut.
Last year, HYBE and CJ ENM announced the launch of Mnet’s “I-LAND 2” and the production of a girl group that promises to be the “second ENHYPEN.” The show started recruiting trainees, and auditions have been conducted sequentially in 7 regions around the world, including Korea. Afterwards, “I-LAND 2” was scheduled to be released in 2022, but the production team has temporarily postponed the show in order to improve its quality.
The girl group formed through “I-LAND 2” plans to join ENHYPEN and debut under the management of Belift Lab.
