Changed the title of the thread from “Do kpop fans tend to like a song they previously disliked ?” to “Do Intl Kpop fans have the tendency to claim liking a song they previously disliked….”. -

Yup I can confirm it happened several times here or on the ancient forum... or maybe some were actual haters hiding & lovers making their voice heard but ~

In some cases, songs do grow on people. Like most of the songs that grew on me it wasn't really a thing where I hated it... I just wasn't feeling it, but once day you hear it and it clicks.
I do think kpop stans have more of a tendency to like things that are popular and only when they're popular though.

sucess stanning eyy. ppl changed their minds about next level like whiplash lol. Same with some other songs

You know on ATRL every time they drag a song it’s start smashing, I remember when Pop was highly praised but it was flopping as soon they stopped the praises it smashed

Lmaoo what kinda tongue do they hold 😂😂😂

Oooh do you think this also correlates with them preferentially stanning groups that are from a popular company/ juniors of popular groups? Or are these two separate things?

yes, majority of kpop stans are success stans

That’s not a lie for some fans. I do think it become more prevalent recently

what i've seen by my own eyes:
- IVE - their teasers were not that hyped here, Eleven had a lukewarm reaction and even was labeled as flop before it started charting
- Aespa's Next Level - was a terrible song, some people changed their opinion after it started charting good
- Stayc and Weekly were hyped while they were doing good in charts (especially during ASAP). Now people don't talk a lot about them
there are probably more cases. I tend to stay in the guild most of the time so might miss a lot.
Now that you mention, I don’t see the last two groups being mentioned that often nowadays maybe they haven’t had a cb yet?
As for NL, I think it’s both - ppl liking it after it did well on k charts and it being a genuine grower for some
Idk about the initial response for 11 thou so I will take your word for it

Probably. I mean on the one hand it's always going to be easier to stan a group from a big company because you don't have to worry about unexpected disbandment or long hiatus (YG excluded ofc) because those companies are stable enough to keep promoting their groups without them being super popular... but when it comes to smaller groups definitely.
Last year after ASAP got popular, people were crowning StayC the next queens of the 4th gen, but then Stereotype didn't match their performance and we started seeing less people hyping them up. IVE is now in that "omg they're the winners!" position, but if their next song doesn't live up to Love Dive, I feel like we'll see similar turn.
Although I suppose this does happen to groups from big companies too.
EXO has faded from their height, but despite still being extremely popular, people act like they were huge flops the whole time. Twice has had issues with that as well over the last couple of years. -

Never noticed it in great scale, I don't keep tabs on who likes or dislikes something and how their opinion changes. But it's natural that people might come back to a song they previously discarded with a different perspective after it does well. "if people like it there must be something about it". Their opinion is allowed to change.
There are a lot of success stans out there so I don't doubt that some start stanning groups/songs after they start charting well in Korea because of that specific reason.

Everyone is allowed to do anything they want. This is just a speculation on this common behaviour

Yeah people roasted the hell out of Next Level before it became super popular in SK. Same stuff happens in reverse though too -- BTS became BTS in Korea after they got big internationally.
