I thought the Digipack was gonna be barebones. Just the CD plus a little insert that contains the cover art, tracklist, lyrics, and maybe a tiny pictures. But it looks like you get photocards, a poster, and a whole ass photobook as well.
Well that's the misconception. But there are shitty digipacks too.

It's similar to a jewel case (the clear square cd cases) in that it's compact packaging, but it's usually all cardboard/foam and because of the way it's printed you can include more stuff in the digipack compared to a jewel case.

That's where the digipak has the advantage over a jewel case. They can package a digipak case with a little pocket or sleeve to hold stuff.

Cardboard packaging that is somewhat similar to vinyl gatefold, but CD-sized.
Usually they have plastic trays for the CD. Not always (sometimes the CDs are in the fold).
They've always been better than jewel cases, which are obv. the worst thing ever invented by man
