I just started to watch Girls Planet 999

  • I think the same thing for Yeseo. If the Korean votes weren't weighted more, I don't know if she would have made the group.

And she was my #1 pick.

lol I wrote about Yeseo then removed it out of my comment before posting.

I wouldn't say Yeseo was a personal favorite but I think she did amazing. She does such a great job at conveying emotion and she elevates whatever she's in. I remember I really noticed for the first time during Queendom 2. At first for me she was just the cute maknae but then she did a solo intro for Pool Party and I was like "jeez, how come she's so amazing at this?".

So, same. I'm glad she did make it.

  • Based on raw votes, neither yeseo or dayeon would have made it. Chaehyun would have been 9th.

If I recall.. I saw an analysis where there were something like 20+ times more international voters compared to korean voters. Actually, fans in China could not vote as they can't download the app. That made it more impressive for the cgroup members who made it into the top 9 on raw votes (Xiaoting, FYN, SRQ)

  • Yep, in Billlie she's known as Sheon.

What happened with Dayeon imo is that while very skilled, she didn't have that many fans the first episodes despite being the K-1, she had a lot of screentime however and there was an episode where some members visited her mom which made many people go like "wtf, Mnet really wants to debut her", that mixed with Mnet's evil editing of other members can make you imagine how messy people were, she received a lot of hate for that episode. She debuted at the end though so good for her.

Sure but raw votes were out of the picture since day one. It always was 50% Korea / 50% rest of the world. Which I don't mind because whatever the concept is, it's still supposed to be kpop.

All I said is that I was a bit sad to see Dayeon was not as loved in the other countries.

As I said above, and it's just my opinion of course, but however talented Sui Ruiqi and Fu Yaning were, I don't really think they did fit the kpop group GP999 was building.

Maybe I'm conditioned by how Kep1er turned out; it's very possible. But when I try to picture these girls along with the likes of Mashiro, Chaehyun and such in a final group, I think it doesn't match.

It's true it took some time for Dayeon to stand out. Because of a youtube montage, I already knew that Dayeon didn't get selected in a first top 9. But after watching the episode, I understood why. It seems to me that for the KDA performance, she let the other girls get the most impactful parts.

It's only when we were able to see her leadership skills that she began to shine.

As for the evil editing, I didn't think it was that bad. And it's not like they put words in the girls' mouths. I think it's undeniable some girls kinda lost their cool at some point; and because Mnet's job is to put on a TV show first and foremost, obviously they gonna bank on it.

I agree with you there. Can’t picture them fitting into kep1er.
