I. Introduction
NCT World 2.0 is a variety show that featured all of the members of the NCT boy group competing in customized challenges as part of the promotional support of the NCT 2020 Resonance project. The premise is that NCT is filming a multiverse reality show, "sharing time and space with all NCT across past, present and future." The show aired a few days after the release of the album NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 1, with NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 2 releasing during the show's run.
II. Overview
The group structure of NCT is unique among K-Pop groups due to the fact that the original concept of NCT was an ever expanding group with "unlimited" members and it is comprised of several individual subunits. At the time of the show, there were 23 members in NCT, making up four individual subunits.
The group unites on a regular basis for an all-unit event, such as NCT 2018 Empathy and NCT 2020 Resonance, supported by albums, concerts, special social content, TV or streaming shows and appearances.
NCT World 2.0 played on this concept of uniting all the groups through time and space. The first two episodes highlighted all of NCT's members with challenges created specifically for them, based on existing skills, past TV shows like the continuing series NCT Life, social media content and fandom-related memes and jokes. They had to clear 23 missions.
Members were placed on a large soundstage in cubes, and could not leave the cubes until members completed challenges. For the next episodes, embers then split into teams to compete and complete challenges in the "past," a high school field day; the "present" including walking at heights and catching octopi; and the "future" to hunt for clues tied into the history of NCT. Finally, members gather to compete in preparing dishes for an evening cookout.
At the end of the series, members also perform songs from Resonance in performance segments and offer behind-the-scenes of music videos.

IV. NCT Spoilers
This list contains all of the members' specific challenges in the opening episodes, as well as an explanation of why it was selected.
Mission | Member | Challenge | Rationale |
1 | Jisung | fly a drone ball and score a goal twice | Because he has the same name as the hero of the World Cup. |
2 | Ten | speak tongue twisters in 5 languages | Because he can speak five languages (Thai, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, English) |
3 | Yuta | Bottle flip challenge. | This has been ongoing for many years in NCT content when members have downtime. |
4 | Renjun | Name celebrities from a picture. | not sure why? Many are related to past NCT jokes or shows (Bruce Lee for Kick It, Iron Man for a competition from NCT Life, SM Entertainment performers). |
5 | Haechan | Draw a heart with a single stroke. | "when Haechan dances, his body moves elegantly like a paint brush" |
6 | Taeil | pass the karaoke game | Tail is one of the main vocalists and a renowned singer. The song he sings is one that he's covered since his SM Rookies days. |
7 | Yangyang | Remove the tablecloth without dropping everything on the table. | not sure why this challenge? |
8 | Xiaojun | eat gukbap quietly | "we heard he likes warm soup" |
9 | Winwin | Do five yoga poses. | He is famously flexible - and it's been referenced due to his Chinese dance training across videos and content |
10 | Shotaro | Random dance of NCT songs - complete the correct choreography. | "our rookie should do an enrollment report". Also, he is a skilled dancer, so this was chosen for his skill set. |
11 | Jeno | Power up the bicycle generator to make 23 cups of cherry juice. | Jeno is known for his strength and his love of cycling. |
12 | Taeyong | Win at a fishing game, basketball game and a finger punch machine consecutively. | Taeyong owns fish and the Neos have played both basketball and the punch machine multiple times in content. |
13 | Jungwoo | Try 5 different fried chicken and guess dish and brand. | He eats a lot and is an expert on fried chicken. |
14 | Jaehyun | Break 10 sheets of plastic boards with just one punch. | Jaehyun boxes - and this has been on a lot of social content of him punching bags, punching in variety show appearances, etc., particularly around the "Punch" era. |
15 | Johnny | Turn off the candlelight with his nunchucks in one blow. | Johnny used nunchucks in the "Kick It" video. |
16 | Hendery | Dominoes challenge. | No clear reason beyond he has a lot of energy |
17 | Lucas | Chew bubblegum and blow a bubble until his face can't be seen. | "He has an unrealistically small face." There's also a background joke here that Lucas has talked about thinking he would be debut in Dream and continually practicing "Chewing Gum." It's a long-running joke. |
18 | Chenle | Charades Relay (group) | Not clear why - but these are some of the most expressive and dramatic members in terms of facial expressions. Chenle and Kun are very close. |
19 | Doyoung | Charades Relay (group) | Not clear why - but these are some of the most expressive and dramatic members in terms of facial expressions. |
20 | Kun | Charades Relay (group) | Not clear why - but these are some of the most expressive and dramatic members in terms of facial expressions. Chenle and Kun are very close. |
21 | Jaemin | Do a version of an ice skating performance on hoverboard. | Jaemin performed choreography on a hoverboard early in his career in NCT Dream, including doing handstands on it. |
22 | Mark | Make sunny side up eggs 23 times | He has a history of cooking failures with eggs across a lot of content. A fan sent a picture of Mark's terrible egg to Gordon Ramsay, who insulted it. |
23 | Sungchan | Call out the name of each member in the order they went during the day. | Presumably because he's new and still learning the members. |
