I. Introduction
JUNNY (주니) is a Korean-Canadian KR&B singer, songwriter and producer. In addition to releasing his own music, he also written for other artists, usually R&B songs, including U-Know, IU, Suho, Baekhyun, Kai, Jay B, NCT 127 and NCT Dream.
II. Career
JUNNY was born and raised in Canada before moving to South Korea in 2018 to pursue a musical career. His first EP, Monochrome, was released in April 2017 and he was recording songs on his Soundcloud. According to the story he told on Eric Nam's radio show, a producer contacted him and told him Chinese singer and rapper Lu Han wanted to buy one of his Soundcloud songs. After he sold it, he decided to move to Korea.
He released 3 more EPs, then a number of singles. In 2020, he continued to write songs for other artists, beginning a frequent partnership with SM Entertainment. He has written songs for U-Know, IU, Suho, Baekhyun, Kai, Jay B, NCT 127 and NCT Dream. JUNNY's songs are typically kr&b, like his solo work. JUNNY continued writing for other artists, featuring on artists' tracks (often on songs he co-wrote for them), recording background vocals and releasing his own singles and EPs.
