Something people need to consider is that idols might be super close in their younger years as they live together but the true test of friendships is when they move out and do less group activities. Similar to school, lots of friendships happen because of the environment and it's convenient and easy to hang out when you live and work together. But when things require more effort and planning, some idols might not appear to be super close anymore if they don't constantly hang out. Of course you're not going to see your friends all the time, but if you rarely speak or meet with your group mates then it is questionable how close you currently are with them. At one point in the past, groups could have been best friends and like family, but that dynamic can change. Doesn't mean it wasn't real, but might not be the same dynamic today.

You do understand that those figures are based on stock preorders right? Stores know if they are hosting fansigns and will make sure to reserve more albums for those.
What is "genuine" selling power? These companies have sales teams for a reason. I'm not being mean to stray kids, but this applies to everyone. There's a reason sales are pretty much up a ton since covid started and it's not only because of new fans, but because also there's new incentives that encourage more album purchases.
I'll just say this, but ban preorder/fansign store pcs and I promise you many groups will have lower sales unless you gain a shit ton of fans who'll buy the albums. This applies to both Stray Kids and TXT and pretty much the other 4th gen groups. Do not underestimate the power of collectors. If you got 50k super dedicated collectors that buy everything and you do 5 store exclusive pcs, they'll contribute 250k sales. Just double the number to 10 pcs, and then you got 500k and doubled your album sales quite easily. It's just an example, but that's why it's super important to build the fandom with these hardcore fans because once they're locked in, they can buy a lot of sales.

Lmao as a collector, it's weird to never see people talk about the sales tactics that groups use other than album versions.
1. Preorder/Fansign photocards - Skz did a bunch of these and majority of them are selfie pcs. I'm active on twitter and in the collecting community and I promise you that a lot of stays bought a ton of albums for these exclusive pcs. TXT started doing preorder pcs for Korean stores other than weverse during Freeze. But in general, Moas don't tend to collect preorder pcs especially as they aren't selfie pcs. Tbh hybe probably wants more sales to come from weverse because they earn more money from those sales as they own weverse. They might be willing to trade off lower sale potential.
2. Video call events - Stray kids do a bunch of these and they're always by individual member so each store you have to apply for each member. By doing this, they get more sales than if the video call was for the whole group. While for TXT, they usually do group video calls for Korean stores so if you win you talk to all of them. TXT honestly don't tend to do that many video calls and they never do special fansign pcs for specifically korean stores so they don't get the benefit of people buying more albums for those pcs.
Know this thread is joking a lot, but here's a serious logical answer about the differences in their sales tactics lol. JYP tends to do more aggressive strategies than HYPE tbh. But if anything, KQ do the most with ATEEZ. Their last album legit had fansigns 3 months after the album was released and that is not normal lmao.

Honestly I can see that happening! At first, I was skeptical about the 700K sale goal, but bighit was smart with doing the pobs. I hope they can win music bank. BTS being released first might work in their favor if other companies don't want to release in the same period. Huge album sales can definitely secured music bank.
What are these benefits, if I may ask?
Here's a list:

Compared to most other groups, bighit hasn't gone crazy with preorder benefits until this era. In the past, they have only ever done weverse store for pobs. And some special pcs given by stores were not easily accessible to ifans (lucky draw pcs you have to be physically in seoul and chinese and indonesian stores aren't easy to buy from). Now they're doing pobs for multiple korean stores such as apple music, yes24, synnara, aladin, etc. Minisode1 managed to do 300k sales in the first week with very few pobs compared to other groups. I can't even imagine how many sales they'll get now. Don't underestimate collectors, many of them will buy a copy from every store to get the special benefits.
