Do you honestly not think that company & record executives look at under age musicians/idols and try to determine if they are going to have "sex appeal" (as adults)? Of course, they do. It doesn't mean they are all perverts. It's all about what will generate revenue $$$. They know what appeals to the masses. I'm not stating that this is what I prefer, rather, this is how I believe the GP will react to NJ when it comes to touring.
Maybe I'll be proved wrong, and NJ will sell out large stadiums across the globe. If that's the case than perhaps K-pop fans will care more about great songs & vocals than I thought. I'll own up to it if I'm wrong.

I've only been listening to K-pop for 18 months (and I'm much older). I love the music genre and wanted to participate with other fans, but I had no idea that it was essentially a competitive sport. While I do think the competition stimulates passion and makes interaction more fun (like AKP) there are definitely boundaries that are often crossed. At the end of the day you just have to realize that it's music man. It's not as important as your career, family, relationships, and your health. Stay away from places that make you feel uncomfortable or are harming you.

I’m not saying that the way things are is the way they should be. It’s just a prediction based on how I see things. And FWIW, I’m not a big fan of BP or Twice.

What do Jennie, Lisa, Sana, Jiyho, etc. have? They were born to perform on the stage and they have sex appeal. Go watch Momo perform the Likey dance break, Jennie deliver an incredible rap line, witness the fluidity of Lisa’s dance movements, and see how the crowd reacts - it’s special.
Newjeans is cute. They are young and they look even younger. They are incredibly talented and people will pay to watch them sing and perform, but they aren’t going to sell out stadiums in large cities across U.S. and Europe. Great vocals and pretty smiles aren’t going to be enough. They don’t have the “it” factor that it will take to reach BP and Twice level touring. They don’t have the individual performers and star power like BP and Twice that make people say “I have to see “X” perform live in person before I die”.
Newjeans is charting phenomenally and they will continue to break records, but they will never be what BP and Twice are globally because they will fall well short in touring/concert attendance (huge source of idol revenue).
Kids, make no mistake, this industry revolves around sex appeal. Surely you know this by now - see Jungkook.

I agree, but one could argue that 98% of Non K-pop and/or Western songs aren’t worthy of a 2nd time listen. I’ll take K-pop.

Yes, he’s the king. I was never a huge fan, but I will tell you that I don’t have as much interest anymore because his content doesn’t feel as organic as it used to be. Obviously, it’s working for him.

Her reaction was fine. It’s her security team’s job to make sure no one touches her. I would have reacted the same way if some kid randomly touched me. They are unpredictable (I know because I have two).
Do you watch the news? There are weirdos everywhere. You have no idea what someone obsessed with an idol might be capable of.

1a) Gidle - love their latest comeback/album. Their discography is very solid and they just won’t go away. Soyeon is a genius.
1b) Aespa - didn’t like spicy, was my fav gg 2021-2022.
1c) Le Serrafim - amazing performers, love their sexy concepts. They have the “it” factor.
1d) IVE - great songs, very talented & well-rounded group.
5) Itzy - the last few comebacks have been meh for me. JYP always lets me down.
6) Nmixx - like them, but they still haven’t had the huge hit.
7) Newjeans - arguably the most talented, but it’s not my style as they sound and act so young to me. I prefer more up tempo/harder music. If I was caught listening to “super shy” by my Bros they would look at me like “wtf”. A lot of their music to me is geared toward middle school girls. I’m an older male fwiw.
