So, it's interesting that the language barrier is the biggest obstacle bts/kpop have to go toe to toe with western artists and present in all of complaints. There is a growing disdain from fans that newjeans/any kpop group can get the same playlisting as bts if they have enough popularity. The bts solos are unable to get same playlisting because they are unproven and didn't do that well. But what i'm seeing now is Jimin is getting everything newjeans got.

Bts has the highest playlist reach for a kpop group partly due to their english songs. Only when compared to other western artists, they look like they get very less for the streams they get from fans. They have only 3-4 kidzbop songs which are all very similar that are worth getting playlisted. They can't be at the level of western artists with that. Even spanish artists get more playlisting because there is lot of audience for that

So basically, radio and playlisting is shit for every kpop group not just bts compared to others. It doesn't sit right for fans because "bts is bigger than kpop" for them.

do you think bts deserve more radio and playlisting because they get more/similar number of streams from devoted fans?

BTS has the largest fandom in the US out of all kpop groups and yet kpop fans really think BTS cheated their way to the top. First of all it has never been BTS/ BH/HYBE that “ cheated” but the fans. So stop accusing BTS of cheating when you all can’t even make that logical distinction. This begs the question on how NJ got on TTH ( or whatever it’s called) when they have zero presence in the US while members of a group that has a huge U.S. fandom doesn’t even get put on it even with a #1 hit. The answer is obvious. Just like for any other kpop group to get high profile playlisting would point to something shady going on, especially for Korean songs like NJ. As for the question of why BTS gets no payola for radio or streams. It’s because HYBE refuses to pay for it, support it, and/ or they expect ARMY to do all the heavy lifting just like always. HYBE doesn’t deserve BTS.

HYBE America is a nothing company because they haven’t done anything yet. I think they are only involved in the UMGxHYBE GG and we haven’t heard much about that project. Scooter scammed Bang PD and is just enjoying his empty title and the money he got from that con deal for Ithaca Holdings. Bang PD made a huge mistake by underestimating BTS and choosing to focus on being scammed by multiple people for useless investments/companies.

I said this long time ago about Korean platforms like Melon as well, that there was nothing wrong with them. The chart system was just fine until bg stans started manipulating it. Then they had to change it to protect the legitimacy of their charts.

You seriously think western pop Stans weren’t doing the same? What about bundles? They were doing that and it was a more serious violation of the principle than buying multiples. BTS hardly ever did bundles and yet they still did better than most of the western artists that religiously did bundles. Kpop fans are really naive or stupid to believe that BTS cheated while all or most other artists (west and east) didn’t. If anything BTS always did what was allowed and TRANSPARENT while others did a lot more that aren’t and is in fact cheating and not allowed.

Billboard is the real cheater and liar. To devalue sales is going against the standard because sales was and is the most proven measurement of music consumption. Radio and streams are just free promo and mostly doesn’t translate into sales. Which means radio and streams are the most unreliable data for music consumption. Billboard is corrupt and has ties to radio which is why they put so much value on it.

Blinks should shut up about fake streams when BP are some of the worse offenders of ads on YT and not to mention their fandom has been exposed numerous times for using bots, streaming farms, and renting out Internet cafes to stream their YT MVs.

BP couldn’t even chart well with a western label full support and a collab with Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, and many more. Kpop fans are dumb AF to not realize all the groups they think are “ organic “ aren’t. Payola and discovery mode was used so that means their faves make even less money than most. If BTS did payola they would be having streams equivalent to the industry plants, same with radio play. Like I’ve said, BTS are organic because even though your faves have and continue to use payola they still can’t get the same results. HYBE doesn’t deserve BTS.

Only a few in IVE standout while LSFM are all standouts. Wonyoung isn’t aging well IMO. She reminds me of those really cute and attractive kids that for some reason don’t age well and get less attractive as they get older. It’s the way they grow into their features. I’ve seen the opposite also.

As proven over and over, an all Asian group will not succeed in the west especially one without a fandom to carry them. A western group made by a Korean label or any label is supposedly aimed towards a western audience and thus it should reflect that. Which means a “ diverse “ group with mainly white or black members and a few other POC (maybe). Look at any western GG or BG in the past, all were mainly white and/ or black, little to no Asians. Honestly IMO, skin color shouldn’t matter and the groups should focus more on talent, skills, personality, and attractiveness inside and out. Something that both western and eastern groups don’t focus on.

Please no collab with the biebs. Bieber is full of himself and a weirdo cultist. I hope JK gets a good song and it ends there. The biebs should focus on his health problems (physical and mental) and his marriage. JK does not need the biebs but the BTS members can use top quality producers and song writers.

What’s worse is that the labels are in on it with the streaming apps. It’s why artists make so little. It’s the only reason why labels agreed to have their music given away for free. They ( the major western labels) own shares in Spotify and that’s why their artists are usually pushed on Spotify also. Streaming and radio are the least organic of all measurement. Between the free promo that doesn’t represent actual consumption, corruption of payola and shady connections, and the manipulation of numbers by streaming farms/quid pro quo deals/radio brokers/etc. it leaves very little room for “ organic “ streams. Especially when organic streams are being filtered out based on no quantifiable system other than because a “ AI” supposedly exists. LMAO about that ridiculous reason when they can’t even filter streaming farms or streams that make absolutely no sense. Seriously a town of a few thousand is really streaming millions of times for one specific song, make that make any sense.

I rarely listen to the radio anymore, but lots of people do, and who gets played on Top 40 radio is supposed to accurately reflect who the most popular acts are. For the most part this plays out the way it should, "payola" or not. Then you have certain acts, like BTS, getting played multiple times within an hour just because their small but rabid fanbase keeps requesting their songs so frequently that the DJ wants to jump out of a window. The strategy has been to shove them down everyone's throats and see what happens. You're not going to convince me that the overwhelming response hasn't been, "Thanks, but no thanks." On the off-chance that they get brought up at all, it's just someone making an off-color remark about that new boy band from China, whose names they couldn't tell you if their lives depended on it.

You sound really ignorant to claim that the people on top 40 are organic. Read up on the history of radio in the US and you will learn a lot. Payola existed since radio first started.

Because Billboard and the media care more about radio and streams then sales, the music industry will just be a contest of who puts out the best promotions. Industry plants will be the norm. BTS is and will be one of the very few organic artists. This was happening in the US and Korea long before BTS broke the mold. The US have industry plants and Korea have the big 3 chokehold.

Billboard should just call themselves a radio reporting site and rank based on only radio plays and streaming. They are basically reporting on the ranking of ads and paid promotions. When they discredit sales they are discrediting the proven measurement of music consumption that used to be the standard.
