They are still making more money than the OP with unemployment checks
Oh yeah, those 40,000 EUR per month unemployment checks.
-
so it kind of looks that after tax and all things which are needed to be paid
only 20% goes to YG Entertainment bank account
Yes. And before the artists ' cut as well.

Yuck.
Kpop fans should NEVER look at financial reports and think they can interpret or understand how businesses work.
You're Kpop fans. Your understanding of how businesses function is limited due to your perspective of just being a fan.
Prices and contracts are dynamic and variable.
You can't even begin to understand contracts and the levels of complexity.
Let's just say the OP's (and a few other people in this thread) understanding of how this works is on an elementary school level.
I don't know. I think with your choice of words it's the other way around. Is it because the numbers stated in YG's actual report is not up to your liking?

Just another of YG's mismanagement, enriching the middlepeople.
Only Hybe, who has actually formed or bought companies which deal with concerts, has the ability to secure most of the revenue for itself. Everyone else, except IU in Korea only, uses middlemen who skim most of the profit. (IU's concerts in Korea are organized by herself and people related to her so she gets most of the profit herself, but her foreign concerts are arranged by some other entities so she only gets the guarantee, just like every other non Hybe acts outside of Korea.)
YG has been practicing this method since the BB days, I'm kinda surprised they didn't let loose with BP knowing they have the demand. It's understandable if they use MG in the US, but BP is already popular in Asian countries.

Looking at YG's annual report and thinking most of BP's 'overpriced' tickets only went to promoter and middlemen huh.

We have provided more information on this in our privacy policy. If the Born Pink Tour is estimated to have grossed 340M USD and the net profit is 104B won or 77M USD in today's currency, then the GP is only 23%. It should be noted that YG is only taking MG and not percentage like HYBE usually does.
For those who don't know, performers are often offered a guarantee, making the performance risk-free as they will be offered a set fee regardless of whether the show sells out, with the promoter shouldering any losses.
In percentage or profit sharing, it is high risk high reward, basically you have an agreement of profit share with the promoter. For 'profitable' concerts, this is more advantageous on the artists' side as you have more leverage and can get more % and money if the show did well.
With YG only taking MG/minimum guarantee (upfront fee) per concert, is it time to take the risk?

HYBE which received attention as the agency of BTS, became the first domestic entertainment agency to surpass 2 trillion won in annual sales on a consolidated basis as various singers such as New Jeans and LE SSERAFIM gained popularity.
HYBE announced on the 26th that last year's sales were KRW 2.1781 trillion, a 22.6% increase over the previous year. Operating profit was 295.8 billion won, an increase of 24.9% from the previous year. Net profit increased 288.5% to 186.6 billion won .
Looking at last year's sales by type, direct participation-type sales increased by 51.4 % to KRW 1.4715 trillion, while indirect participation-type sales decreased by 12.1% to KRW 706.6 billion.
Among direct participation sales, album and music sales surged 75.8% to 970.5 billion won due to the boom in the K-pop market. As the concert market recovered after the COVID -19 pandemic, performance sales also increased by 39.1% to 359.1 billion won.
On the other hand, indirect participation-type sales showed negative growth compared to the previous year, with MD (goods products) and licensing -17.7% and content -15.1%.
As of last year's Circle Chart, HYBE singers sold 15.94 million copies of Seventeen (1st place), Tomorrow by Together ( TXT ) 6.51 million copies (3rd place), New Jeans 4.26 million copies (5th place), and Enhyphen 3.88 million copies (6th place). BTS Jungkook recorded album sales of 2.71 million copies ( 12th place), and BTS V sold 2.25 million copies (13th place).
Annual album sales by domestic singers under HYBE nearly doubled from a total of 22.2 million copies in 2022 to 43.6 million copies last year. Even though there were no BTS team activities, members Jimin and Jungkook ranked first on the US Billboard main single chart 'Hot 100', and Tomorrow by Together and New Jeans ranked first on the main album chart 'Billboard 200', gaining popularity around the world it's influence.
Performance sales increased significantly as the number of artists performing performed increased from 4 last year to 7 last year, and the total number of performances increased from 78 to 125 . HYBE said, "The achievements of BTS' Suga Tour, which sold out all tours, Seventeen's Follow tour, Tomorrow by Together and Enhyphen's first North American stadium and Japan dome tour, and Le Sserafim's first world tour were reflected."
This year, HYBE plans to debut new products, including IILIT and KATSEYE, one by one, starting with newcomer Tours (TWS ). In addition, HYBE America's management division, Scooter Braun Project, signed new contracts with local singers such as Ozuna and Kali last year. This year, Ariana Grande's full-length album is scheduled to be released, so full-scale sales growth is expected.

It's kinda annoying how long IFPI drags the announcement for charting. Just drop it all once and go

Is $50 expensive? It's the same price as Blackpink's Born Pink album. And the number of the versions doesn't matter as the main reason fans bulk buy albums is for the randomized pcs inside.
The difference is BE's $50 album is the global pricing with the US pricing being more expensive. And besides that, the BE deluxe (one) version sales almost totaled at 3M.
Meanwhile, the $50 pricing for Born Pink is only in the US and EU which probably why they got miniscule sales there. Cause it's only $16 across Asia or globally-- which makes up 97% of their total sales 🤔

Your username checks out 'dreamer' lol.
Not owning it when I said facts.
It's just really simple. When it comes to every metrics that MOST people cared like your faves- BTS got it and so much MORE. Whether in touring, digitals, physical, unique listeners and having a higher status in Japan.
Ask yourself if Twice or heck any artists would recognize a SURVEY as their peak popularity out of the metrics I've stated above 😅
You're losing a debate that is not debatable in the first place, dreamer.
So go forcing your survey with a 100k people while most people prefers BTS and their music.
Go have fun in your own little world being stuck in 2016.

I couldn't believe I read all these pages at 1 o'clock in the afternoon just because I'm bored af and want to feed off my petty side.
Now my petty side wants to bring out receipts and proofs to satisfy my past self-- used to be an avid digital chart watcher and fascinated with stats.
I usually ignore these fights cause it's too childish for me, but BTS' Japanese achievements and what they built there despite all the disadvantages and circumstances are an anomaly and it's not even close enough to the rest of Kpop acts. It's just hard not to respond to.
But alas, a PROPER BTS comeback will happen sooner than later with HYBE already planning ahead their reunion and world tour, so bring it on 😤😤😤

Couldn't be because their songs just had bigger appeal? As I said on the beginning of this argument some of yall really can't differentiate between "bigger song" "bigger artist". I guess BTS is even bigger than Yoasobi or Radwimps in Japan cause of the same reason, right?
All the polls and surveys still cater heavily Twice, but yeah, lets look at digital charts for no reason cause that's how it works in Japan. Like damn, TVXQ must be back to nugu levels cause no digital charting in more than a decade. You're so fucking dumb bro I swear.
Survey with how many participants and in which cities exactly? Exactly.
Are you saying that Survey with a couple of hundred to thousand people in a few cities is a better measure of an artist' popularity than let's say topping DIGITAL charts and consistently being listened to?
And as just from last year, you can even see that BTS have more unique listeners in Spotify Japan. And BTS haven't even released a proper album since 2020 meanwhile Twice is actively releasing multiple albums.

Meanwhile, you can even compare it to JYP ENTERTAINMENT's total revenue for that whole year with multiple groups and ventures across the world. And it's not even enough.
That's 165M USD VS 129M USD in 2021 currency.
