BTS will embark on the Map of the Soul Tour in April, hitting stadiums across South Korea, North America, Europe and Japan. Fifteen of those dates include stadiums in the United States and Canada, marking their most ambitious North American trek to date. And lest anybody question the South Korean septet’s incredible concert draw in North America, half of those dates sold out during their first weekend on sale.
Tickets for the North American leg of the Map of the Soul Tour went on sale for the general public on Friday. As of Monday afternoon, seven of the 15 shows have sold out, including stops in Dallas, Atlanta, Toronto, Chicago; East Rutherford, New Jersey; Santa Clara, California; and Pasadena, California. (The Atlanta show has Verified Resale tickets available through Ticketmaster, but the other dates are completely sold out.) Several other dates—including Orlando, Florida and alternate nights in both Pasadena and Chicago—only have a few hundred tickets left in the nosebleed sections. These sellouts and near-sellouts are hardly a surprise given BTS’s live track record. The pop superstars became the highest-grossing touring group of 2019, beating acts like the Rolling Stones, Metallica and KISS. They earned over $196 million and played to more than 1.6 million people across 42 shows on the Love Yourself World Tour and its Love Yourself: Speak Yourself Tour extension
With every tour, BTS reaffirm their status as one of the top-drawing live acts in North America. Many Western pop stars struggle to pack stadiums, let alone sell them out almost immediately. BTS’s ability to do so repeatedly puts them in the same class of pop royalty as Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, as well as classic rock behemoths like Paul McCartney and Billy Joel.
BTS will release their new album, Map of the Soul: 7, on Feb. 21. With a reported 4 million global preorders and excitement growing every day, it seems like BTS are well on their way to another No. 1 album and more stadium sellouts.

but the tour only focused on 10 states, how about other states? There are 52 states in The US. Every state can be considered as 1 country, that’s why I said those other can tour in every single states in the US put them ahead BTS.

Taylor Swift, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran are the only ones I can think of. Even Justin finds it difficult to sell out stadiums lately in US.
I do not think Adele and Beyonce have the pull in Asia to sellout stadiums though they do in the west. Correct me if I am wrong with factual data.

That’s wrong about Justin Bieber. He can sell out Stadium if he only make few days and focus on states where most of his listeners are. BTS also doing the same, only in selected states instead of whole US. I think Coldplay, Taylor & Ed are very much above BTS.

Oh, it's a question? Then my answer is that they should do as they want and not bow to public pressure from people like you. You act so confident the SK public will say no, yet the last official poll as has been mentioned before was 59% in favor of exemption. How does a majority in favor translate into the SK public will say no???? The math isn't mathing.
If the poll was done for all SK pp like an election, I would be agree on this with you. Otherwise, those polls do not make a complete picture and 59% does not indicate that people fully agree. The poll can be wrong many times, even election poll. SK government is not gonna have ball for BTS exemption, BTS should run away from this mess and just do the services. The enduring of trying to get exemption just cause damage to them.
-
As you said: ppl should stop paying attention to it. But at the same time, SK government & the company & media keep bringing this topic because, they want exemption but the SK pp will say no. And it’s going nowhere. So my question is: should be BTS just voluntarily enlist, then no more discussion and drama.
-
Are you Korean?
Then read more Korean news as the majority of SK men, again, against and angry at BTS exemption when they heard about the poll. Clearly, SK government don’t have balls to make decisions, BTS does not need to be a sheld for this stupid decision by voluntarily enlisting. That’s what I mean.
-
They can comeback after doing military with a Korean / English song and become the most anticipated comeback in Korea. I predict at least 1M uls in first 24hrs on Melon chart.
-
Why BLinks are in this topic ? BTS had comeback multiple time in the last 2 years with many achievements while BP had no activity. BTS and BP are not in related at all. BP now is the first Kpop artist to spent multiple days at No.1 Spotify global chart , No.1 in Australia chart and the album will sold at least 3M. They are doing their great job.
The military service is another topic that SK and kpop fans care and keep making noise in the forum, due to its justice and SK law.

I agree...imagine being an Army and saying that just cause you are tired of it and do not want to fight antis anymore , the boys should enlist? As if you are at the receiving end of hate yourself. Those boys have dealt with hate for years, they know what they are getting into and they have not asked Armys to wage an online battle for them.
So you telling me that the government making a public poll now is because they don’t trust the media poll? If you ask me on the street suddenly about the enlistment, I would not think much of it. but if the government try to make a public poll, I think the answer might be different and people consider it more carefully. So whatever the answer is, it is still bad publicity.

The way we go round and round this topic like any one of us can change anything.
Let's be real: antis start this topic so they can gleefully pour more shit on BTS.
Stop arguing with them and spouting facts - THEY DON'T ACTUALLY CARE. For years, antis have been crying for BTS to move over. Guess what? THEY'RE STILL WAILING.
I don’t get the anti call. I put things in a perspective of logic. I don’t mind if government give BTS exemption but the way they unsure/ milking the decision is annoying. Why they need to publicly ask people opinion ? The media had did a poll, why the government need to do another poll. They are clearly afraid of the flashback , the criticism from Korean people , BTS is on the spotlight for the military service all the time. So is it worth for them to wait for the government action ? Government have so many years to make decision, so just put down your name and go. It is the best solution, both fan and anti fan can see it.

and they will enlist if they want
If they get exemption or alternate service, they will take it
They earned it
So they are willing to let government playing around with their enlistment? It doesn’t sound good at all

The flip side of enlistment is just as problematic.
BTS, HYBE, and - by extension - even the korean GDP would suffer from lost revenue on some pretty bad levels.
The group contributes $3.5 billion annually to the SK GDP and even during the pandemic, HYBE was able to increase revenue 58% thanks to BTS.(NY Times)
If bts left, HYBE could be even considered to be written off and gone due to the backlash in the stock market; holders would sell once one of the biggest money makers of HYBE were put on hold. A mass sale of stock plunges the stock value and if HYBE isn't proactive enough, it could torpedo the company into oblivion. RIP to Lesserafim and NewJeans.
Not only that but NPRrates BTS as bringing in $5Bn for the SK economy a year in ripple effects, creating jobs, and providing revenue streams that weren't possible without them. That's already 0.5% of the SK annual GDP
In macro economics, even sub percent changes to the GDP is insane; GDP growth for america fell 0.9% and economists are already ringing the alarm bells. Changes in GDP growth already shakes economies, not to mention straight GDP.
Basically if BTS were to full-stop in kpop and go to the military, SK can expect a minor recession on the horizon.
Edit: The Cultural Merit award is practically an understatement at this point. Bts is no joking matter simply because of economics.
Hybe will be impacted, but SK economy is not. Kpop is in the good rising, every single act can make their worldwide success , not BTS. BP make a first kpop artist to spent multiple day at No.1 on Spotify, First kpop artist to achieve No.1 in Australia, … Aespa, Itzy first million album, many more to come. So kpop industry still going well. 3 millions album from BTS can be replaced by many albums from other groups.
The only downside is that not many boy groups to be after BTS and Hybe might be struggle but if they play well, everything shall be alright
-
Why should he be enlistment early, because BTS is in hiatus, no group activity any further.
SK government keep bringing BTS enlistment and make noise about it. It definitely damage BTS brand and image. SK government is messy but BTS can saved them from this mess by voluntarily doing it. The early you do, the better it is.
-
-
But then SK people are really questioning their sincere speech about military service. I mean Jin did speech passionate about mandatory enlistment as a Korean pride, I don’t see how SK people would react to their acceptance not doing military service. Also, after all the mess the government is making, I don’t see it is a good way to accept exemption.
-
It is MANDATORY, so just volunteer to do the military services then make a BIG comeback. No one is holding anyone back. I am very confused, why BTS let SK government throw them back and forth. Instead of waiting for government to call you for military enlistment, just come forward and put down your name.
