They stopped talking about Punch very quickly, and Superhuman era really stalled their growth. Their debut wasn't as well received as other SM groups. Even comparing 127 to itself (which you didn't specify in your thread opening ar all), flopping badly would require some actively bad things to happen.
I'm comparing to their last comeback of course I'm not going to compare to their releases from +2 years ago. The comparison is with their last full album, which is Sticker.

So not really a flop in the grand scheme of things? Let alone flopping badly like your thread title claims.
Never said "in the grand scheme of things", I'm comparing them to themselves.
-
I know there are rumblings of a boycott because of the tour fiasco but what else makes you think they'll flop?
Zero hype. I see one talking about it or worried about the fact their sales on kt4u are terrible. And honestly, seeing how the promotion is doing a tiktok challenge of a b-side with no dancing and using remixes of their old songs I can't blame them...

Promotions don't really effect preorders that much, the fanbase puts in their orders basically as soon as the announcement is made and 127 will have the usual million plus of those. These Big Three boygroups aren't really capable of flopping truly badly just by the promotions being lackluster.
False, specially for NCT.
I'm not saying they'll flop flop obviously, but they'll flop for their standards lately.

The Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station, which received a complaint filed by the National Newspaper to the effect that KBS intentionally lowered Im Youngwoong's broadcasting score to interfere with his work by manipulating the singer's ranking, was recently booked for a related case.
Previously, the police had conducted an internal investigation (investigation before arrest) with a KBS official as a reference. It is reported that KBS submitted materials related to the scoring criteria for broadcasting scores of ‘Music Bank’ to the police.
(...)
Critics pointed out that the broadcaster was abusing its power, and when Im Youngwoong's song was played on a radio program from KBS, there was a demand to disclose the method of counting broadcast scores.
KBS claimed that Im Youngwoong's song was not broadcasted on KBS TV, radio, and digital content, but changed its position when it was revealed that "If We Ever Meet Again" was in fact broadcasted on the radio during the counting period.
A, who filed a complaint with the police against KBS for obstruction of business, said, "It is a disastrous fact that KBS, a public broadcaster that should aim for strict and neutral counting, is embroiled in such allegations," adding, "We expect the truth of the case will be clarified through a police investigation."

2. Yahㅋㅋㅋ I was worried that this would just get quietly buried but this is a relief
3. As expected, since they touched a public's favorite, it created a buzz
5. It's because it's Im Youngwoong that this issue blew up. This issue would've been buried if it was another singer
6. They always had issues with their broadcast points but all thanks to Im Youngwoong, the issue has finally blown up
7. Why would they make it so obvious towards Im Youngwoong of all people?
8. Please do this transparently
9. Rigged-Bank, reveal everything
10. Huh? Did Le Sserafim win #1 anywhere else? This seems fishy -
by logic shouldn't older group do better? especially after all those promo in the usa?
No, in fact 4th gen in general tend to have better streams than 3rd gen on Spotify, and every year that passes new groups debut with more and more streams because of K-Pop getting more and more popular. Promo gets you fans not magically popular on a huge english-speaking country.
By logic, IVE should have much more streams than aespa since their music is a lot more mainstream, so this doesn't help IVE's case.
-
not u comparing streams of songs that released at the different time logic flew out the window
Eleven literally have more streams than Next Level when its released after 7 months
Love Dive have more streams than Savage when its released after 6 months
even for b sides there's time difference u have to consider, also difference in promo as Aespa pre released lllusion and promoted Life's too short, ive never promoted b sides
By that logic, tell OP that it's useless to compare groups of different years. Because IVE is not the top 4th gen gg so far when looking at the data, that's for sure.

Similar where?
Ive is literally peaked at #23 global spotify with After Like yesterday, they even entered us spotify at # 82 without stepping foot there and without friday release.
Aespa's highest was #75, and they didn't enter spotify usa after all those us promo and friday release
that's huge difference esp when u consider IVE is only 9 months old group
Similar on what actually matters from Spotify which is streams, what's the point of a high peak apart from bragging rights when the streams at the end are pretty much the same? This is like saying iKon turned into a top group on 2018 because of Love Scenario.
And again, IVE on Spotify:
- Eleven: 153M
- Love Dive: 129M
Aespa on Spotify:
- Next Level : 151M
- Black Mamba: 141M
- Savage: 120M
And apart from that aespa has multiple b-sides with more than 15M streams.

Enlight me about the difference that justify the album sales gap AND the touring power potential difference.

I love to see some Sticker appreciation, but I would say Simon Says, Cherry Bomb, Limitless, Chain... there's a lot I love more, even though I really like Sticker
