  • Is Kpop's American Marketing Really Beneficial?

    i was thinking about the way that kpop is trying to become much more american by making english songs and marketing them here, but i'm not sure if that will really help them. when i was in middle school i only knew one other person who liked kpop and she was korean. i graduated from high school last year and almost everyone knew bts, but only for butter. a lot of people knew of blackpink, but didn't really know their songs.


    everyone is saying that kpop has gotten bigger in america but is it only bigger in the sense that people hear their songs on tiktok and listen to them, or are there actual fans? people may listen to cupid because it went viral, but would the americans who enjoyed that song on tiktok really come back for more if fifty fifty released some super kpopy song in korean?


    i think the whole concept of kpop is very strange for americans, but that uniqueness that it has is what attracts most american kpop fans. it was the craziness of red velvet and orange caramel, and the cuteness of twice and gfriend that got me as into kpop as i am today, and i think many others can say the same.


    rather than trying to become more american by releasing english songs and following american trends, kpop should focus on the things that make it unique because that is what truly attracts fans that will stick around!

    so i don't like them because they give me a feeling of annoying little actor kids.

    like you know stranger things?? i literally hate those kids in that show cause their annoying actor kids!(i hate the red head the most)


    i don't know if that many other people get this sort of feeling from things, but it's sort of like little sassy smarty pant sorta kids that think they're great. that's why i don't like new jeans because that's how they feel. the fact that their from hybe and are all brand ambassadors even though some of them are 14 makes it even worse.


    kinda like the girls on dance moms or whatever, i hate them!!!!


    i only like hyein cause i feel like she's a freak but that's literally only based on her face, i know nothing about her, she's probably annoying too.


    danielle is the worst for me. probably because she speaks english. she annoys me so much.


    even the name new jeans, like plz shut up.


    anyways i love ditto and omg though and i'm looking forward to their next comeback!!!!!!

    I saw a second really wierd dream in which kpop idols showed up, yeji and ryujin this time
    Tbh 90% of this dream was without yeji and ryujin but still.

    Here's what i saw:
    the situation in this dream was that i was with a group of around 20 armed people, some of them were my irl uni batch mates and the group's goal seemed to raid the villa and operations base of what seemed to me like a cartel/mafia or some drug gang or something like that.

    So the raid begins and action movie stuff happens, and bunch of enemies get eliminated by us and a bunch of guys from my team get…

    that's so funny kpop dreams are always super weird. i've had a couple but my most recent was about tzuyu and she had a secret boyfriend from taiwan and he was at their fansign event and she kept leaving to talk to him but like they knew they couldn't be together so he had to leave and then they got on this floating balloon thing and then he left lol. i wasn't even in the dream it was just about her

    their music is just sooo boring and bad like it's crazy how they thought anyone would be interested in them when they're not doing anything interesting.


    like i only really like one song from them and thats mvsk which is just a bside.


    all of their songs also feel kinda random too like the concept is all over the place. yeah they're all upbeat i guess but they just don't really match.


    like with izone all of their songs had a similar sound and the concept was kinda classy and pretty maybe?? kep1ers concept is just like overly annoying happiness.


    i don't know i really wish they'd just get it together and make some good music.


    bahhihyh or whatever and hikaru anddd xioting are the only members i know basically and the rest of them are all kinda just there.


    to me their music is just kinda obnoxious and annoying sounding and i can't get into it

    im proud of jungkook but i wish he wasnt conforming like this. it sounds nothing like kpop and its just so bland. i wish that since he is so famous he could have included some korean songs in the album to introduce nee audiences to kpop.


    im really disappointed by this album as someone who hates american pop but i do get what an achievement this is for him and it will make him the most money since its targeted towards americans.


    i dont know i just hate this trend of kpop idols making english music.


    kpop is kpop and if it keeps going in this direction it will lose what it special about it and become something else.


    but like really in all honesty these sounds are really bad and annoying. 3d and standing next to you are the only ones that sound ok to me. these songs will never compete with the master piece of begin though! (i miss wings era so much)


    anyways i wish bts and kpop idols as a whole would stop pretending to be americans(especially when bts shows up wearing cowboy outfits)
