I still don't think the companies would be in the debt (if we are talking bout the big 3) if it wasn't for BTS and Black Pink
The 2nd gen was doing crazily well after all and Red Velvet and Twice are no joke either even though they haven't expanded to west as much as BP and BTS
Tbh I'm not even a fan of any 4th gen group , the youngest group I stan is Black Pink lmao , but the condescenfing attitude of Blinks and Armys towards the younger groups expanding to the west just irks me a lot (I don't mean you )
The 2nd gen fans used to be real jerks about their faves "paving the way" for BTS and Black Pink , it used to be so annoying ....and now Blinks and Armys are doing the same and the cycle continues

And I understand that too. I hate it when fans from fandoms put down other groups just because their faves are a bit more well established that others. Like, humble yourself pls

Literally nobody in this thread is saying these groups haven't paved the way but it is one thing to acknowledge their contribution to kpop and their younger colleagues and it's another to act like we should give the credits for all the achievements of the younger groups to them
The thing is nobody knows what would happen if it wasn't for Black Pink and BTS ....but kpop was here long before them so saying k pop groups would be in debt sounds cocky at the best
The groups from big 3 never had a problem to pay off their debts even before BTS and Black Pink , they were already huge in SK, Japan and southeast Asia
Groups from small copanies , that's another story , most of them still struggle as the market is oversaturated af though
People simply don't know how to praise their faves without putting down other and it's showing in this thread
I know this by heart, actually. I wasn’t trying to be malicious, I was just pointing out that realistically, both BTS and Blackpink made it easier for new generation Kpop to be acknowledged. I’m not discrediting them in any way, but simply just stating my thoughts out loud. My wording was a bit off and I apologize for that. When I said “in debt” I didn’t mean the groups themselves but more the companies themselves. I also just want to point out that specific comment wasn’t meant to be taken seriously and was nothing more than a joke at best. I don’t put down other groups, and I always try to keep my opinions to myself if they aren’t the nicest. And I definitely understand that younger generations of groups are thriving on their own. I mean, hell, look at Aespa, TXT, etc. they are just a few of the many wonderful new generation groups that are making it big. I’m not trying to take away or diminish their hard work. That would pretty stupid of me tbh. And again, I’m sorry if my comment came off condescending or even rude. I’m not here to fight with anyone or put down any other groups.

BTS and Blackpink both paved the way in making Kpop more mainstream to be honest. Without them, K-pop groups would probably be in debt as we speak if we’re being honest.
