Hi Pentagon!
What was you favorite song in your new comeback, Love or Take? When I reviewed your album, I liked Do or Not the most.
-
I thought this was a solid solo debut. Not groundbreaking or awful, but solid. I can see what ROSÉ was going for as a solo artist. That she is the indie girl of the group. I do flesh out more on my thoughts in my reaction video though.

This is a very solid solo debut! Looks likes the leaks have been true. It's completely in English. However, that is fine. Personally, I liked Gone better but I can see what YG is going for here. Here is my reaction!

ATEEZ is back with a new record, and here I am kind of a bit worried. Fever Pt1 experimented with their sound that I was not used to from them, so I feel that it felt a bit flat. despite competing in Kingdom. And if you have that it mind, it may mean that they are trying to experiment with their songs. This may be a good thing though as we head to their new song Fireworks (I’m the One)
It is a good song. I get hyped when listening to it. There are parts that are unfulfilling like when there is a EDM pause in the chorus and the song just repeats the chorus. I also wish that the beat drop went to a harder chorus but it is fine. I would have wished for an EDM refrain just to keep the intensity. Usually, I don’t consider choreo but the choreo of the track doesn’t fit the song that much because of the much-needed intensity. It is fine, However, does what it is meant to do. Better that Inception
The Leaders is a trap heavy song. It is a more typical Ateez song to me. I was feeling the song until there was a beat change in the second verse. That didn’t feel great for me. Also, the chorus doesn’t fit the build-up at all.
Time of Love - OH THIS ISN’T A BALLAD THANK YOU! However, this sounds like a Western boy song from the 2010s. I do like these types of songs because the production is much tighter and focused. However, not everyone likes the 4 beat to minute type of songs because they seem generic but I enjoy them. There are better songs on this lane though.
Take me Home: Oh another obligatory Blinding Lights clone. Didn’t I tell you guys last review? We will be seeing this way more often. The chorus is just so magical. The rapping does take me out of it though. They are not good here. However, if you have a good chorus, you basically have a good song, unless the verses are atrocious. Really good song.
Celebrate is one of those uplifting slower/gospel hybrid songs. Similar to what Big Bang used to do. Its ok. Nothing much to say here. Once the piano starts you know what you are getting. A good way to end the album’s original songs.
Take Me Home - Honestly, this is a decent english version.I know Ateez doesn’t have fluent English versions and the raps don;t seem pronounced, but I never liked the raps in this song anyway. Clearly but the chorus seems better in English than Korean to me so this deserves its spot on the album.
Fireworks (I’m the One) (HEAT Topping Version) It is in English it seems. Doesn’t seem too jarring in English. However this remix seems that it would e performed on Kingdom, so I know why this exists, but it feels pointless to me. The remix only makes the song more ATEEZ like, but it does not fit with how the song is structured
This mini-album does not feel as focused as other ATEEZ albums on a concept or on a sound. Instead of maturing ATEEZ’s sound, it waters it down and adds different ones, which may not be a good thing. There are good tracks here so I hope KQ takes the feedback from those songs and implements them into a more proper ATEEZ song.
Taking all my thoughts into consideration, I would rate this a 4/10.

I always have gotten EXO vibes from them in terms of production. Looks like they are leaning into that more. I really liked their debut. I even mentioned it in my Shinee album review. I hope they grow in the future as a group.

Chungha is a Kpop solo artist who made her debut as a solo artist in 2018 after being in the Mnet project girl group IOI. Known for her dancing abilities and her stage presence, she quickly rose up the ranks. She has had many hits, from Snapping to Gotta Go. Now looking at her prolonged teasers and preleases for this era, it seems that she is taking a more international turn in her career, especially because since she got signed to 88 rising. And these new influences of American R&B, rap, and even reggaeton, are present throughout this album, even down to the title. This a whopping 20 songs, long for kpop, but lets get into it.
Starting off with Side A (Noble)
This song is essentially an introduction to the album. Not much to say about it besides the there is synth horns.
Bicycle- This is unnaturally sexual for a kpop artist. Clearly has influences from American artists like Ariana Grande and Doja Cat, from the raps to adlibs to the chorus. I don’t like the post-chorus because it doesn’t connect to the chorus. It feels incomplete as a result. I see why this was picked as the title to mark Chungha’s international turn, but there are better songs here, and Roller Coaster is still my favorite.
Masquerade- Really love the synth heavy intro here! The chorus is so colorful, from the the big horns, to the trap beat heavy build heavy. Cungha’s vocals seems airy here but the beats are hard carrying here so there is no need to strain. And that bridge with the Maricahi saxophone! Should have been the title track, hope she promotes it
Flying on faith- This is a full English song! Chungha’s pronunciation is pretty good. The guitar instrumental reminds me of Taylor Swift’s Knew You were trouble, and Ariana Grande’s positions. The production in the chorus is just too loud for me, it clouds Chungha’s voice a bit too much. But I like the song, it is decent.
Luce Sicut Stellae- Seems like the token R&B song in kpop albums. Nothing less nothing more
06 Side (Savage) - The intro is like a runway
Stay Tonight, Dream of You, Bother Me, and Chill are like songs you will listen to in the club, so that threw me off a bit. Also Dream of You sounds like an English song that came off Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia, not that I am complaining. Chill reminds me of We Can’t Stop by Miley Cyrus even down to the instrumental. Chunga even says I won’t stop, like she is prohibited
Side C (Unknown) Sounds weird but trendy
Play ( a reggaeton dance banger, not much to say other than I like Changmo’s rap)
Demente - SPANISH SONG EVERYONE WE WON! Even Guaynaa, a reggaeton artist is on the song. It is by the mill, but this is revolutionary for kpop to include.
Lemon- Looks like she is dumping all the reggaeton songs here. Cold fits here, but now I am disappointed that there aren’t more features here.
Byulharang - The ballad. Now I see that Light and shining is a big theme of this album
Side D- Pleasure - Nothingburger, just X into
X, and a song I can’t pronounce - are ballads, not into ballads but they are fine
Come N Goes represents the end of the relationship, and closer to the end of the album, slower pop song, but not a ballad song thankfully
Overall- Very good album from Chungha, felt a bit bloated by the end. Did not need three ballads back to back, but it was more complete than the average Kpop album. I would give it a 8/10. Very enjoyable.

My name is HeartStar! My specialty is that I am a Kpop reviewer based in Ithaca, NY. Due to my seasonal depression and lack of money to buy kpop albums, I decided to make a YouTube channel and name it CottonCandyReviews, after my favorite treat! This is my first KPop album review and I am taking a look at Chungha's first studio album, Querencia! Overall it is a more complete work than your average kpop album. Despite me being dissatisfied with the minimal features and the bloat started to show near the end of the album, I gave this album an 8/10. It is very solid for a first album, and it shows glimpses of the globalization of Kpop (a Spanish song in a kpop album????) . Much better than the usual kpop fair.
I could write an essay here but excuse me while I eat more ice cream!
