Melon as one of the biggest online music store and music streaming service in South Korea has a certain reference value. From the search index we can find out which K-POP groups was being discussed the most in January this year.

Btw, Spotify just launched yesterday in South Korea, so will the biggest music streaming service in the country change or not it's kinda interesting to see.

There's only 8 k-pop artists have charted on Billboard Hot 100 so far in the history. And I think it's amazing because BTS has already 3 No. 1 hit on the chart, that's insane! BLACKPINK will more songs on the chart in the future for sure, hope we can see more other k-pop groups/artists charting on Billboard Hot 100 very soon!

The video included the songs over 200M streams. Since it's already a big challenge for K-pop songs to reach 100M streams on Spotify, no doubt there's only few k-pop artists are on the list. BTS has the most songs on the list is not some surprising, what I want to say is BLACKPINK.

it's kinda surprise that they have about 8 songs (included Jennie) above 200M streams. They don't have so much songs tbh. Which means they have very high ratio of songs streaming. And Jennie is just incredible. The only young soloist on the list besides PSY, I think Rosé will join really soon.

TWICE and PSY ha e each one song on the list, It proves that they are one of the most popular Korean artists overseas after BLACKPINK and BTS.

cool I can accept your argument - I didn't say the methodology is bad I used misleading - I apologize maybe I was using the wrong term - maybe I should have used the words indicator ie having a ratio may be a better indicator.

I completely agree that obviously a group should try to have both quality and quantity but in your videos it only shows absolute quantity instead of relative quantity I think both are representative of that group's success.

But nevertheless I can understand where you are coming from and again I apologize for using the term misleading

Don't be sorry hahah, I really enjoying discussing these kind of things with ppl and I can accept almost every opinions, so don't worry about it you can say any thoughts you have, whether it's good or bad.

Actually I think it's fine, like yes if the video shows the ratio of over to under 100M is better, but without it is not that bad as well, only different aspect for me. I was thinking about what you said before like is an artist with higher ratio better than the lower one? Maybe not, it depends what's more important for you (or the artists). K-pop career or music career is actually shorter in comparison, so If an artist want to become famous, besides the choice of quality, there is another one that is quantity, for me all of theses is just strategy of surviving in this industry. So yeah I can agree with your points but without showing the ratio I will still not say that the video is really misleading, rather than that I will say the horizon of the video is not that wide.

Spotify as the biggest music app all around the world makes people very curious about the streaming of K-pop songs on this platform. According to the videos we can find out that to reach 100M streams on Spotify is way more harder than reach 100M views on YouTube for MOST of the K-pop artists (yes there's exception).

Of cause there's various reasons. Spotify has 320M active users now meanwhile YouTube has about 2B active users. The gap is kinda big... But anyway I think it's interesting to see how many songs on Spotify have more then 100M streams now and how many K-pop artists have reached this milestones. K-pop is still like a kid on Spotify so let's see how will it be in the future.

Watch the video first there's a lot of K-pop artists inside:

I think we all agree that K-pop music videos are getting bigger on YouTube, but how big exactly? Actually there's only few artists have multiple music videos more than 100M views which surprise me a little bit. Anyway I still hope K-pop will be bigger and bigger in the future!
