It's very nice to see a Blackpink member being appreciated purely as a musician.

I mean, this whole discussion about comparing idol groups based on "talent" level is a bit silly because Kpop group performers are there to be "idols", not the highest level musicians, vocalists, dancers, etc. The most important requirement for most idols is to look good, be charismatic, and be able to hang in dance formations and handle a couple of lines of vocals, and generally fill some role in an ensemble competently. Idols are multi-media entertainers, trying to compare big 3 or smaller groups based on criteria like "vocal expertise" is not particularly valuable.
if vocal talent was the most important aspect than Mamamoo would be the biggest Kpop group ever. Sadly, not the case. But it's interesting to note that what has elevated Mamamoo from a small company to important group is that their vocal prowess as a group makes them stand out above others. Obviously MMM's vocal talent is not a common aspect of idol groups in general, or it couldn't be MMM's "killing point."
Of course there are exceptions, some great vocalists, great dancers, great rappers. But outside of maybe the dance category, if you really want the best of those other attributes you need to look outside idol groups. Thats just reality. These discussions always strike me as happening only in people whose entire musical viewpoint is derived from pop or kpop music.
Idols are Idols. The requirements of idol groups are as all around entertainers who are attractive and work well in groups. They are the literal face of huge entertainment and production conglomerates.
No trainee in any kpop group is competing based strictly on vocal talent, etc. Maybe a particular talent will get them into the trainee process, (ie, Rose's musical ability or Lisa's dance) but those talents alone won't guarantee them a spot in a final group.
So I think the point is valid.... by default it will be harder to get into a group in a large entertainment copy purely because of numbers, because what a particular entertainment company values as an idol group member goes way beyond just one or two skills.
Plus we don't need to discount the amount of work that is still required to succeed as an idol. Surely one of the factors a company considers is work ethic and ability to improve themselves. Jisoo had no particular outstanding musical or dance talent before joining YG, but she worked her butt off to become a very good singer and dancer. Maybe her dance skills don't stand out individually, but she is precise and accurate in group formations and some dancers never manage to accomplish that. Jisoo's beauty got her in the door but her ability to rise to the challenge of training is what made her part of Blackpink.
Especially in YG where training takes years as they try to find the best fits for groups, being able to survive the grind is it's own kind of required skill that will also help when navigating the demands of idol life. Maybe that's where you will notice the biggest difference between those who make it through the big 3 (4) groups process vs smaller companies.... the big groups idols are probably much better equipped to deal with the life of an idol, promotions, endorsements, variety shows, photo shoots, schedule demands, performing, group cohesion, etc, than the smaller company groups. The big companies value that because they are more likely professional enough to bring in the big income from multiple sources needed to justify all the investment required to get the group out in the first place.

Dreamcatcher has the most interesting choreo among girl groups IMO.

There are three k-pop groups I care enough about to follow closely and know all their members.
although my latest obsession is J-Rock group BAND-MAID.

The cool thing is that she did it with two songs that seem very much her. She didn't contrive to produce a hit in the normal kpop styles.

I hope I can see it in a 4d theater
