BP's pink concept title tracks always have longevity. Maybe bcoz of the melodies
cause their pink title tracks have better melodies and hence have better longevity. See PWF, AIIYL, LSG
Whereas their black concepts, usually have huge hype but they tend to fade faster due to overburn
-
if they have another high profile collab, they will sure outdo that. Even without, they will achieve so as long as they release an album this year
-
And I didnt claim they did.
The point is that if we are talking about the new circumstances and the potential of groups to get a PAK under these new circumstances, then Dynamite is the only idol group song to have achieved a PAK after releasing FULLY under the new system. It shows how hard it is to achieve this, considering even BTS and BP next songs failed to achieve this.
And yes, I think BP probably has the best chances to be the 2nd group to get a PAK fully under new system.
Actually not probably, to be fair BP is the only other group that showed ability to get PAK besides BTS. LSG was so close to hit PAK except on melon blocked by Dynamite. so it is very likely if the anomaly Dynamite was absent
-
hYLT was first song to get PAK after chart reform
And DYnamite is the first song released after chart reform to get PAK
LSG was the closest to get PAK only be blocked by Dynamite.
And yes, it is very hard to get PAK nowadays. I think u need both initial hype to get high on 24hits chart and then have longevity to continue to chart high on all other charts to get PAK

Fr why does everyone mention Whistle as BP's debut song when Boombayah is right there! When I think of their debut, I think of BBY isntantly not Whistle
Cause whistle was the more promoted one of the two during debut not boombayah. Newer fans could never relate. Whistle was #1 and hit roof top of Melon which is something only senior groups can attain during that time
-
The newer fans wouldnt know how iconic whistle was when it first being released. It basically slayed the chart and blackpink were glowing in evrry performance. It was more iconic than boombayah in every sense.
Of course the western fans would prefer boombayah which is more along their latest sound but whistle remained one of their best release

I don't think RV should be here their red and velvet tts chart and do Well in korea
Since red flavor none of their red songs is doing better than velvet songs
-
Dont get me wrong. It doesnt mean the kpop groups are not versatile, but they have limited room to be versatile while maintaining success (at least in Korea). This is also not a bashing post, as I am casual listener of the following groups, else i wont know their progress.
Some of the examples:
1) Twice - all cute and bubbly songs did well, and their darker songs aren't being received as good in korea (saving grace is they get more success internationally)
2) BTS - their upbeat songs are received better than mellow/slower songs
3) Blackpink - their hardcore dance tracks are more popular while other types (Ice cream, LSG) are less well received (but still chart decently)
4) gfriend - charted so good until change concept with Fingertip, after that managed to regain some fame with old concept but continue to fade after that
5) red velvet - this is a bit tricky cause over time thr GP preference shifted from their red concepts to velvet concepts.
Compared to the past
1) SNSD - bubbly songs did well, changed to mature concept - the boys, i got a boy, lion heart all did well
2) big bang - needless to say. Their mellow and dance tracks have equal success (eg. Bangx3, fantastic baby vs blue, loser etc)
3) 2ne1 - same, their ballads and dance tracks are well received
4) sistar - summer songs and darker concepts are performed equally good (but more inclined towards summer)
These are just some popular examples.
What has happened to the korean music industry.
The only one who is able to be versatile is (G)I-dle thus far. Even newer groups like ITZY is sticking to one consistent sound. Why is it like this? Is the industry being oversaturated that people are only looking for certain groups for certain sounds and once they deviate, they lose popularity?

The only iconic line is "look up to the sky, It's a bird it's a plane" followed by bring out the boss b*tch
