Well chart-wise she kinda was. HWAA freefell several spots when the Soojin mess was at it's peak and it was clear that the group as a whole was going to significantly be affected if she stayed any longer.

It's unfortunate but it was clear that the bullying mess gave the group as a whole a boost in interest and popularity both in Korea & internationally, I highly doubt that they would've been as big as they are now if it wasn't for the newfound interest they got after that

Hot100 is a great way to see which acts have broken the ceiling when it comes to KPOP and acts that made it outside the bubble but thats kinda it. Although it's proving to be more questionable recently and Spotify 200 is probably a better indicator as of late

BB200 - Better when it comes to seeing which acts have bigger/more dedicated fanbases (with debuts), some indicator of which groups have bigger casual following when you look at stability (all compared to their KPOP peers ofc)

I think they're simply just are a reflection of which sounds were most popular during the time they blew up. When BP blew up the dominant sound in the West was mostly hip-hop/trap hard-hitting stuff which was in line with what BP was serving. Now Y2K & jersey club/UK garage are having their moment which isn't far off from what NewJeans have been offering

lately. It's all about being on top of trends, getting to them first and being able to market it in a unique and interesting way.

IVE used to do really well on Spotify so I'm kinda confused by those numbers I mean it's not like they're bombing but 1m daily for several weeks/months they used to do with ease. Even I AM/Kitsch were kinda downgrades compared to how they would usually perform. Maybe the quality isn't matching up to the taste of some of their casual listeners or they just need better playlisting, idk. Seems like GIDLE have sort of taken their place when it comes to whose behind NewJeans for 4th gen GGs on streaming

They should definitely stick to Asia since cause clearly that Friday release was really not worth it

I feel like in most big groups there's just that one member everybody likes to pick on for no reason and she's one of them sadly, the n word scandal, tendency to fall behind the others in performances (she's kinda better now but it was really apparent during Girls era) the fact that she's slightly bigger body shape-wise than the rest of the group are probably the biggest contributors to her hate

Hybe obviously has some of the best casting professionals around, every single group of theirs from Enhypen to TXT to LSRFM and NJ and of course BTS has enjoyed runaway success. Letting rando Joe Q Public determine literally the most important success factor for your new multimillion dollar investment instead of relying on your talent acquisition pros....just the height of idiocy for any company tbh.

If they did then it's not working cause this group is shaping up to be far less interesting than IZ*ONE & probably less successful too. Wonyoung was around Wonhee's age when she ranked #1 but she had special type of charisma that Wonhee lacks. She is more similar to Chaehyun imo

She never really fit this YG swag rap image to me and this kinda just further confirms it. I feel like the reason why FF is doing so well is because it's different from her and scenes like the taekwondo scene in the MV feel authentic and true to her. It does feel like a really bad parody kinda

I'm not even in here as much but low ULs have always been a big discussion since the 24hits chart reform whats with the 5 page meltdown Is it like if you don't praise him you get jumped now.....like really doesn't have anything to do with being pressed or not

Anyways interesting how said reform (as well as COVID etc) was cited as one of the reasons it's marketshare/ULs decreased but they've returned back to several other variations of their old charts and still nothing has worked. I guess one of the reasons why they're losing out is cause nothing they're offering can come close to the YT Premium/YT Music bundle in terms of convivence, it's interesting to see how Korea seem to be following a trend of places like India/Latam's usage of the site growing meanwhile it's the other way around in Western countries
