Every year these predictions end up being fake and every year people who don't know any better believe them

I think Jennie overall is bigger, but Hwasa benefits from her not releasing as constantly and/or promoting solo. Yeah 3rd gen is kinda a lost cause in general when it comes to successful solos.
I Love My Body had a cute time in the top10 but it was nowhere near You & Me which was unpromoted top3 hit, much less her peaks like Maria and Twit. I'm a B & Somebody kinda flopped as well
PAKs are also all about timing as well and are not really indicative of overall success, there is no planet where that Refurbished Sisters song is bigger than Solo has it had horrible longevity compared to it's peak

Through The Night sneaking into the 19-29 range 7 years after release is the real shock here

5 replies in nearly an hour oh girlgroupstan.....

kwinka is bigger than anything lsfm has released this year but yes for aespa
-
LSFM will end up bigger than IVE by the end of 2024 for various reasons

"little girls". i'm cackling. we have grown men with age 38 and above here with kids stanning these little girls
Doesn't really negate my argument but great that you found this as an opportunity to bring up something completely unrelated to what I was saying

You're lucky I always have a tab open for this
For the month of November:
The most recent week of December:
I don't have the totals, but I wouldn't be surprised if Perfect Night has closed that small gap or surpassed Baddie by now.
PN Circle points peak was like 18.9M points while Baddie was 17M
They both have same amounts of weeks at #1 (3 each) but I'm thinking PN will gain another unless EXO gains a shit ton
So yeah the stats don't lie but it's by very little

For some strange reason, New Jeans make people go crazy on AKP. What type of magic do they possess? They got it from their unnies Twice.
Before there was New Jeans there was Twice who were called nugu flops for all of 2022 and made at least 400 hit threads for us. We should all thank New Jeans and flops Twice for keeping AKP alive!!
This is so real every other week there would be a hit thread with some variation of "Why did Twice flop?" post-2019
Then it was aespa when they blew up, IVE for a little while, now it's NewJeans (to sa bigger extent than the last two tbh)

Seems like LSF are becoming more head-to-head with IVE success-wise this year (mostly WW but in Korea as well) compared to last

When you have to use the 'paying critics' drag, you've lost your argument. If this was the case they would've done it with Ditto/OMG, their first mini album, etc. This conspiracy that MHJ is paying Spotify, paying award shows, paying critics, paying YouTube, paying Melon, is nothing short of deranged
Some of you are grown dunking on some little girls like, it's time to cut off the internet and self-reflect

Since when did you turn heel and become a bunny, i thought you were Aespa 4 Life
I'm really not a stan but that doesn't mean I can't acknowledge that what they're doing for the genre is impressive, this idea that you have to be a stan to do that is kinda weird
At the same time I can acknowledge some of their weaknesses too, if I was really a bunny you would've seen me in the other thread saying Minji number one IT girl bigger than all the rest etc etc
-
Nice update, for a minute there I was confused bc I thought this thread was about money and brand deals.
I really have no idea how the conversation went from acclaim to brand deals and stuff but it really shows that people have no other way to dunk on one area (acclaim) so they have to resort to shading them through other means. Connections and random stuff have nothing to do with the thread topic so I'm a bit disappointed that the thread headed in this direction though I can't be shocked seeing how it's always the same 5 users being pressed in every NJ-related thread

Super Shy rises to being the 3rd most acclaimed song of the year since I wrote this....certain users found mad and fuming
-
Blop
idg this strategy of them releasing music videos and not putting the songs on streaming

I feel like NewJeans are suffering from the TWICE/BTS-esque "group brand being bigger than individual brand" thing. No doubt that their the biggest GG since BP but the fact that despite that their most popular members still trail behind Wonyoung & even Karina despite all the solo promo they've been getting...

You tried it.
They both sing and dance. A lot.
Stop embarrassing yourself in public like this.
That user is so pressed over them just because they're the only girl group that has managed to be head-to-head with BP success-wise and in such a short amount of time
Can't even be objective, like what you think they just walk around while backtrack plays during their performances? Extremely embarrassing

Also people like to bring up KPOP expansion and yadda yadda but note how Cupid has barely made any lists despite it being the biggest KPOP song in recent memory. Say what you want but I genuinely think these critics find artistic value in NewJeans' music and view them as separate from the formulaic, basic mess idol music has gained a reputation for in the West.
I think it really helps that they're working with people like Erika de Caiser who's own work is pretty acclaimed. Keep it up like and they'll probably snag a Grammy nomination (maybe even a win) in no time.

With the recent expansion of KPOP globally, critics have started to review more KPOP albums and songs and give them high-ish scores. One thing that's noticeable though is that many of the albums they give high scores to never really rate well on their year-end or decade-end overall music lists, which is a good indicator to tell whether critics actually find said album/song worthy of acclaim ,etc
Looking at all these year-end music lists.....I haven't seen a list where NewJeans have been missed According to AOTY year-end aggregate for songs (which lists which songs are most acclaimed based off of how high they rank on certain year-end lists or how often they're mentioned), Super Shy is already at #5. Before this the highest a KPOP song ranked was Dynamite at like #20 or something and then Butter at like #30
Sadly they missed the albums list but I'm gonna chalk that up to the fact that their only 'album' this year was a really short EP
