But it's working? As you stated, people are talking about it and it's trending. The anticipation gives as much hype as a teaser.

YG just released a statement. Per OSEN:
YG plans to check the exact final results with YouTube in a few days.
An official on the YG side explained, "I do not want to dilute the intrinsic value of the concert because the numerical aspect is highlighted, so I am cautious."In conclusion, we won't know the official numbers for a few days.

people need to realize that Melon has been hemmoraging users for 2 years. They're down to a 30% marketshare in a country of only 50 million people. Let's be generous and say 75% of the country uses Korean streaming services. That's means only about 10 million people in the entire world use Melon. Realistically it's more like 7 million.
And we're supposed to care what these specific 7 million people (out of a world of 4 billion people) listen to?
Melon has lost its importance.

It was perfect. Everything about it was perfect.
Outfits a 10
Their voices a 10
The remixes a 10
Solo stages a 10
Sour Candy a 10
Choreography a 10
DDDD stage a 100000000000
The stages were f*cking grand and expensive. And what they deserved and what the fans deserved.
Well done.

We need only look at Korean labels for the answer. They are all making groups specifically targeted to Japan and China, most notably SM and JYP. And YG, with 1/4 of TREASURE being Japanese and their new gg having Chinese members.
They've all indicated they are making global groups and if they happen to catch on in Korea, that's simply icing on the cake.
There's several reasons. In Japan they are bigger concert goers and albums buyers than Korea. Japan's market is way bigger than Korea. Japan has 3x the population of Korea. To put it in perspective, Korea's population is only slightly bigger than the state of California.
And you don't even have to be popular in China to make more money just given its sheer size. But people like GD, Lisa and BLACKPINK are banking endorsement deals in China that makes them more money than anything in Korea.
I never thought I'd see the day YG focused on fandom and physicals as they're always #1 in digitals and charts as a label. But it makes sense why. There's a ceiling...
Look at the shrinking marketshare of Korean music services. Melon is hemmoraging users. They are now roughly 30% of the market now. And the Spotify monster is on the horizon and they have to be scared to death.
Just look at the new VFX/SFX performance venue YG/Naver/BH are building. They're doing that to connect to global fans.
Look at the music shows. They've become glorified YouTube channels. No one in Korea watches them, but why do you think they do a million different fancams every week? They're catering to global fans.
If you're making a group specifically targeted to Korea then you're limiting yourself.

Well if they get 300-500k paid viewers then they'll gross about $15-20 million. That's unbelievable for one concert. That's the type of money you make for a whole tour with overhead costs being drastically lower.
No wonder YG/BH/Naver are building a VFX/SFX performance venue together. Expect more online concerts in the future even after the pandemic. Too much money to be made. I expect other YG artists to have online concerts this year.
And if BLACKPINK gets 750k-1 million paid viewers that means $25-35 million...we may never see a live tour again. Lol. And that goes for all labels. The entire industry will be paying attention to the numbers BLACKPINK is going to pull tonight. It may be a game changer.

not gonna predict, but just bought the Plus package and it was $43. Seems reasonable, as it's the average price of a concert ticket. But I could understand that could be expensive for some.

BH purchased YHS and Yang Min Suk's stakes, btw, so their direct ownership in YG plus has also reduced.

This information is incorrect, together with Yang Hyunsuk and Yang Minsuk, YGE's share in YGPlus was 49.64%.
After the sale, YGE's stake in YGPlus is currently 35.97% . Big Hit' stake is 7.68% and BNX is 10.24%.

Okay , first , THANKS to REPLY to me ... Also , here , still a bit confused on the situation , which is likely MY FAULT in lack of understanding ... I am *hoping* that you might 'suffer me' in making another REPLY to me ...
So , just WHAT is (entity) YGPlus ??? ... Is it like a Board of Directors situation ??? ... And IF so , usually there are a *couple* of *CONTROLLING* Members of a Board of Directors ... And if so , WHO would those be ???
Is YANG HYUN SUK *still* in CONTROL of say BLACKPINK Group and BIG BANG Group ??? ... In terms of their MUSIC RELEASES and CONCERTS and the rest of it ??? ... At one time , up until his 'HAN SEO HEE Meltdown' , and he had to MOVE OUT of the YGe Agency Building , YANG HYUN SUK was that (in *CONTROL*) ... Is YANG HYUN SUK *permantently gone* from control of YGe Agency now ???
(Note: If that THREAD ORIGINATOR wants MY Message here DELETED , consider this as MY permission to do that , no intention at 'hijacking' here , me.)
This is the organizational breakdown of YG

it's simple.
YGE sold and Big Hit paid YGE $35 million for a portion of their stock in YGPlus. They also paid YHS and YMS $15 million for their YGPlus stock.
However, YGE is still majority stakeholder in YGPlus with 36%, BH is 2nd with 17%
BH stated YGPlus has a powerful distribution network. So they'll be using YGPlus for album, digital and merch distribution.
Yes, there will be a YGPlus logo on BH albums and beside them on Gaon chart.
This org chart simplifies things.

I am not sure what you mean to say it ... YANG HYUN SUK and his Brother , between them , up until recently , *owned* about 20% of the outstanding STOCK SHARES of YGe Agency ... Recently , some kind of YGe and BIG HIT Agency (BTS) business deal was done , where the YANG BROTHERS now have LESS Stock Shares that they own it of YGe Agency ... But , up until the YANG HYUN SUK / B.I / HAN SEO HEE *POLICE INVESTIGATION* happened as Public News , YANG HYUN SUK *Controlled* YGe Agency , *ALL* the Management Decisions related to it ... And *some* have suspected that he is STILL doing that even now ... Via say ZOOM VIDEO PHONE calls or whatever ... So , my original two questions remain ... I was HOPING that you might have an opinion on it ??? ... (No , I have no affiliation with YGe Agency).

Incorrect. Big Hit does not own anything in YGE.
YGE is majority stakeholder in YGPlus. Yang Hyunsuk and Yang Minsuk were 2nd and 3rd.
YGE sold and Big Hit paid YGE $35 million for a portion of their stock in YGPlus. They also paid YHS and YMS $15 million for their YGPlus stock.

Yeah lizvip YG is the one that bought and owns the land. They bought it a long time ago with the intention of building a cultural park. Perhaps the other 2 companies are contributing with the construction of the VFX/SFX studio and Concert Hall.
It was announced 2 weeks ago that YG and Naver created a real estate development company called "YN Culture & Space"
But yes, YG is the one that owns the 22,000 square meters of land that it's being built on.
-
It's more of a strategic partnership. Naver invested in YG 4 years ago, owns VIBE with YGPlus and now has a real estate development company with YG.
Now they've bought into partnerships with Big Hit.
Naver is just being smart here. They want to partner with who they see the most promise in and who can help them expand globally.
YG has been diversifying its business for years and now BH is.
It's not Naver trying to take over, but it doesn't stop uninformed people making conspiracy theories and try to make it seem like that, like of course they'll draw crazy conclusions about the Naver founder's son being a YG/TBL artist. But they all 3 enter into it because they see a benefit.
This seems like a transformative partnership that seems like it will be a huge monolith and pretty daunting for anyone that's going up against it or not a part of it. It seems like there's going to be huge announcements and projects in the future.
Also I don't expect Twitter to understand what a subsidiary is, much less understand what happened with YGPlus.
Big Hit and its subsidiary paid YGE $35 million for its stock in YGPlus. YG is still majority stakeholder in YGPlus.
