It's good for promotion tho, I say this as a universal perspective, but yeah usually the "firsts" are more impactful

The Western industry doesn't have to tolerate anything. BTS are where they are today because of their fans, and their fans didn't need the Western industry to hear about them in the first place. Or am I wrong?
The first ones during Dope era didn't (most found on YT), but it's a fact that they gained a lot of fans because of their BBMAs and AMAs exposure during DNA era. I agree that fans can replace industry push, but they can gatekeep an artist with narratives and influence.

That seems exaggerated, there's no way of knowing these things. Btw Nsync hiatus and 1D there is an almost 10 year difference, in 2 or 3 years it may come a group that becomes just as a big as BTS, just like no one imagined BTS would be as big as it is today and the next big thing would be a big3 group.
I do agree with the part that the western industry (aka US and UK) will never make it easier for Kpop groups, they will always favour their artists and make them seem bigger than than are. My hope is that BTS huge success and Kpop becoming popular made people realize there is so many great artists out there than the ones the US entertainment industry decides will become the next superstar.

I’m hardly new to K pop thanks. I’ve been a fan since 2011 but only became a fan this year. I have liked their music a lot over the years but only thought of stanning them now. Also, I have engaged in posts on BTS and have posted in the guild when I first started following them. I don’t feel the need to participate in discussions with fans to be a fan thank you. As you said, I will do my thing and a reminder to you that I am a fan in my 50’a and don’t feel like talking to young fans. I just enjoy their music if that’s fine by you.
Yep, you're totally right, sorry if I sounded sarcastic or something, that wasn't my intention at all! Just wanted to give some advice I wish I followed when I started catching up with BTS lol

Not really, but I do read some things that makes me feel like

Are you new to kpop too? I just wanted to say to you as someone who have been following BTS for a bit more time to never engage with these people or dicussions, these people will fake themselves as neutral but they'll do mental gymnastics just to find something negative to say. Really, totally not worthy and it's exhaustive, keep doing what you're doing.

IU for sure, but didn't this already happen?

It's a bop

Because they're jealous, I understand dislking certain artists but some of them are straight up obsessed and weird about it

That is the difference. We don't have to support this as women. We can support girl groups.
You know that by supporting a girl group you're also financing the men behind them like CEOs, producers etc which in the majority of times get WAY more money than the members themselves.
Also men don't need money to be a piece of shit and Kris was rich even before becoming famous, stop blaming female fans for men's actions.
What this thread has turned to jesus.
