It was probably similar to the tvxq situation where JYJ's involvement in the cosmetics business was much bigger than the other members and the company thought. And once they found the truth they couldn't risk having it ruin the group's potential endorsement deals.
Also there were most likely beef and disagreements between the members.
Music show I feel like it is Live sometimes. In the sense the backtrack is sung live in one of the takes . The video and music just might not be the same take.
That’s what I understood of music shows.
I think that was an old "technique" music shows used. I mean shooting many takes and then mixing the best live singing with the best dancing.
Nowadays, it seems like record a live track, tweak it around and then shoot a dance performance while lipsynching to that track (which was most definitely done without dancing). The worst part about that is most of the time they proceed to use the exact same recording for all of their music show performances so the performances end up sounding like carbon copies of each other lol. It's particularly hilarious when the "tweaking" goes as far as AUTOTUNE but fans still insist it's live because it sounds different from the CD :D
Anyway, in some instances it's very obvious that the live singing is being done in real time

You can't really fake this kind of adlibs. Mark even almost missed his cue to start the song.
And I'm positive this is also the case for all the performances I posted in op. It's pretty obvious in Simon Says (because it's unsingable live lol), Renjun even had a vocal crack in that From Home stage and Haechan ran out of breath in one of his parts in Boom. None of that would have happened if they weren't genuinely live.
I don’t care if they accuse NCT of lip syncing, but they shouldn’t do it while saying their fav not even moving their lips to the sound is live singing and brag about it.
Kpop is unfortunately so narrative driven. If you repeat one thing long enough it will be treated like a fact regardless of whether it's true or not. Ironically it's always fans of groups that lipsynch even more often than SM groups who want to come for NCT and other SM groups for lipsynching.
I think the OP one wasn't live it went soft, but the Music Core one which you linked me he went even higher than original
I thought the video I posted in my op and the first one in my reply to you were the same video because the thumbnails looked similar lol but after I pressed send I realised my mistake and edited my reply to you. The 2 videos I gave you are different from the one in my op and he did it live in both

I only got into NCT recently and I found plenty of live performances while checking them out, I don't knowwhy people keep pushing this narrative about them lipsynching all the time. Maybe it's because they're fromSM and many kpop fans love to pretend that lipsynching is something only SM artists do? Everyone and their mothers lipsynch to prerecorded vocals in music shows nowadays and from my observations and extensive research I concluded that NCT might actually sing live more often than groups that are hailed for supposedly singing live all the time lol.
Haechan didn't invent singing for you all to disrespect him like that, smh

When you're fromSM, you either get called a failure if you're not number 1 or you get your hard work denied because of privilege. There's no in between. Notice how every SM group since EXO got called SM's first failure in their early years. There are many 1st SM failures lol.
Anyway, NCT said in their debut song that they'll take it slow. 4 years later and they're selling millions.
While lip-syncing seems more common for current-gen groups, when it comes to harmonizations and adlibs I've noticed that SM groups in particular have songs where members play off eachother's vocals or have some interesting, unexpected vocal riffs and runs.
I've always wondered why not more companies and groups make use of it, because it really gives songs that extra boost and liveliness, and makes it even more of a joy to listen to.

I don't know about all SM groups but I know for a fact SJ improvise their adlibs and change and add notes often in their live performances. Watching performances of the same song never feels like the same thing.

For example the way Ryeowook goes off (and slays) at 3:15 wasn't in the song originally

And there are other performances of the same song where even Siwonwho's subvocalist adds improvised adlibs of his own

People should look at the song as a whole product. Our main interest should what would make a song sound the best and I'm pretty sure that's the thought process of most producers while deciding on the line distribution. If an idol doesn't get "enough" lines, chances are they can't sing well or the other members sing so much better.
JYP is an exception because the look at songs and line distribution as if they were math, you get lines because you exist not because you deserve them

The distribution doesn't get any fairer than this but 1:48 to 2:20 and 2:35 to 3:05...... a travesty. Which is a shame for a group that has capable singers like Yeeun and Sunye.
This would be the fate of most kpop groups if line distribution was indeed "fair"
The performances you're talking about are all lipsynched to the same prerecorded vocal track, that's why they sound like carbon copies of each other. Try watching genuinely live performances and you'll hear plenty of variations and adlibs.

2 genuinely live performances of the same song, with different details and adlibs.
I know that lipsynching to prerecorded vocals is the "in" thing in kpop right now, and has been for years, but I'm always surprised at howrampant it actually is and even more surprised at how many people are fooled by it. There are groups that get praised to the high heavens for their supposed live singing but I can barely find ANY real live performances of them, there's one group in particular that has literally lipsynched their way through most of their career so far but their fans still insist they're vocally focused lol. Ignorance is a bliss I guess.
Song lyrics are more than just the meaning of the words. That's why reading translations isn't enough to assess a song's lyrics, no matter how detailed the translation is. You will be able to understand the message and maybe even the word plays but you won't be able to connect to the lyrics while actually listening to them. Even the understanding will depend on the translator's own interpretation, it won't be your own.
