Stray Kids really need the korean gp while having #1 album on Billboard US

Same old question, different day
-
Will 4th gen bgs ever have a viral hit?
mebbe wait until 5th gen

This it the 519817th time someone asks this. At this point, I doubt you don't know the answer already.
The GP stopped caring about boy groups many years ago, before 4th gen began.
Will 4th gen bgs ever have a viral hit?
You mean in Korea? Because Stray Kids are where they are today thanks to the international virality of God's Menu. Who knows. But a boy group will have a harder time going viral among the Korean GP because of the initial attention missing, as I've said before.

That’s just fandom in the US. The OP is asking about Korean streaming services like Melon for charting. We all know SKZ are more liked internationally than domestically.
The OP is asking why Koreans seems not to prefer 4th gen BGs songs compared to before.
I think it’s the way the charts calculate points that make it harder for BGs to chart. It was calculated differently before so fandom streaming still carry big wattage compared to now.

while they may have a fandom in the US, SKZ is not known at all by music listeners. I mean, look at their Spotify US numbers, they’re dismal.
So it’s like they’re not hit makers in any country, they just have a dedicated fanbase. Do you think that’s really the career young idols aspire to instead of having sales and GP like SuJu/TVXQ/Exo/BTS?
bgs used to have it both ways but now it’s like 4th gen bgs are nugu while moving millions of units which is very weird
