Do you think there's a difference between how male and female idols are expected to look and behave?

coming into kpop, I found it kinda refreshing in a perverse way that both men and women were expected to be beautiful in the idol world.

Do you think the expectations are different? In what ways?

I actually opened this thread cuz I wanted to talk about different sales expectations between bgs and ggs, their stan behavior, and why there's a difference.

Then I got distracted and posted this instead, not thinking. And now I realize that this will likely go down yday's road...

Lolol, no it was my fault cuz i started thinking of the v ways they could be different. This is fine and an important topic. I just didn't want to be too redundant if it was fully covered yday.

I'm not familar with the state of western music. Are ggs more popular than bgs?

Right? This extends so far beyond kpop. People are always taking women to "smile" and be pleasant. Guys don't get that.
