the worst thing is that the 'death' wave always comes few days after and today already 270 people passed away due to corona complications
S.KOREA is fairly *well vaccinated* as POPULATION PERCENTAGE.
There are *far worse* nations than S.KOREA on this issue (vaccinations).
The TOTAL DEATHS (COVID) in S.KOREA will seem *high* somehow ...
And it will be a NEW DAILY DEATHS RECORD for S.Korea for awhile now ...
BUT , it is FAR WORSE in places like HONG KONG with COVID DEATHS.
S.KOREA nation has actually done WELL in VACCINATIONS overall ...
S.KOREA is *not* a failure on COVID Protection of their population ...
The USA , as example , is *FAR WORSE* than S.KOREA on vaccinations ...
But yes , there will be RECORD DAILY TOTAL DEATHS in S.KOREA ...
It does NOT mean that S.KOREA has done *anything wrong*
in their COVID PROTECTION decisions and policies.
COVID *experts* were *guessing* around *250,000* DAILY COVID Infections
for S.KOREA at this time (about 30 days ago) ... So , but that it is instead
at *380,000* Infections Level , surely does make one BLINK a bit ...
Still , *experts* will TEND to guess on the 'conservative side' in these situations.
In other words , to *mistakenly* create PANIC (S.KOREA) by *over estimating*
is to be avoided if possible ... So , here , me , NOT completely SHOCKED either ...
But probably , it means *experts* did OVER ESTIMATE how well that
S.KOREA was actually COVID Protected ... And also , it was likely *over estimated*
that SOCIAL DISTANCING (S.K = *good* on that) would help in the OMICRON situation.
It is *never* good to be Infected with COVID , no matter the circumstances.
For some (*not* vaccinated in particular) , there is *deadly* risk to it.
it's also because they weren't hit as strongly with the previous waves
It will get you one way or another, it's inevitable, let's not kid ourselves
they are actually lucky it's omikron which is less deadly than the previous strains
And people wonder why we have vaccines in place.

South Korea's obesity rate for adults is 4% compared to countries hit the hardest like the US which has a 40% obesity rate. 80% of people who died from covid were obese.
It seems to me that Korea need to really do something about their spike in numbers. They're doing worse than what we were here down under.

Just to expound upon this, it is not a vaccine in that, because COVID has mutated, it no longer can protect fully since it was formulated to prevent only for the original strain. However, because the current mutations of the virus still bear enough similarities that it can continue to provide some protection, it is still necessary to vaccinate until such a time as we come up with another "vaccine" to target a new mutation. People can and do suffer severe complications with omicron. It may be at a lesser rate than earlier strains, but allowing this to spread has no guarantee of being benign - there are risks still associated including death and new mutations.
Best case is to vaccinate everyone and keep an eye on it to be assured that the current vaccine still has enough efficacy to allow the vaccinated population to recover with few complications because of their increased protection. If and when that protection wanes enough that hospitals start to flood again with critical cases is when we'd need to go back and re-formulate or face another crisis.

I mostly *agree* with ALL that you said it ... Those who DIE of OMICRON , are as *80%* likely that they are NOT VACCINATED ... The other aspect , of the PFIZER and MODERNA vaccines, (as we refer to them) , is that they are EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS in overall performance. From when the *creation* of them was first happening ... They are working at some sort of 'level' that is stated around *85%* (those vaccines) ... And actually , a *successful* vaccine would be one that works even at around *60%* level (which I believe JOHNSON & JOHNSON vaccine was at that *60%* performance level) ... But ANY VACCINE is better than none.

The other aspect , (my *simplistic* understanding) , is that PFIZER was saying that they can create an *upgraded* VACCINE to target *better* a specific COVID VARIANT as needed, within about *3 Months* time duration ... To me , this is *SUCCESS* in a BIG WAY ... It is as though PFIZER , MODERNA , etc , have a *TEMPLATE* where they know how to *tweak* that for *future* VARIANTS ... Which is a BIG DEAL *SUCCESS* (my view).

*PFIZER* has said that they have *after infection* PILLS that you can take them too ... NOT sure just how WELL that might work though ... NOT heard much about it lately ... But the PILLS *depend* on EARLY DETECTION of Infection (obviously) , so that you can *immediately* start taking the PILLS ... And NO IDEA on the PILLS versus the *changing* VARIANT 'target' either ... I do NOT have PILLS , so no need to know ...

the marketplaces or any places where the people can get their necessities. Shut down bars and unnecessary
