Stop exaggerating how bad NCT's streams are

  • i swear some people here and in twitter act like NCT don't have any streams at all. what's with the way they keep going on and on about how nct fans can't stand listening to their music?

NCT 127 have 1,333,822,118 streams dating til today, 20 january 2022. And for the record, even though NCT 127 is NCT's most active unit, they still don't release music as often as other regular groups. They debuted in 2016 but they only have 3 full albums and 4 eps in korea. to put things into perspective, Seventeen which debuted 1 year earlier than NCT 127 already have 3 full albums and 10 eps in korea, that's almost the double of 127's phsyical releases in nearly the same time span. Another example is TXT, they debuted 3 years after NCT 127 and they already have 2 full albums and 4 eps in korea. i hope you all can get the picture here.

    other album stats:

NCT U Universe (Decembre 2021, one month) : 47,972,122 streams

    NCT 127 Sticker/Favorite (September 2021, 4 months) : 107,714,491 streams

    NCT Dream Hot Sauce/Hello Future (May 2021, 8 months) : 226,715,660 streams

how are these figures bad? how could they have such numbers if no one listened to their music? just because there are others that do better than them, it doesn't mean that no one likes or listen to their music. you all forget that they debuted at a time when spotify wasn't as popular and wildely used as it is now, not to mention that NCT had a very slow start, it wasn't until 2020 that they started being really popular and their streams are in fact growing at a faster rate than their physical sales.

  • They push a narrative and don't fact check. Like someone said aespa streams are bad when they have multiple b sides hitting 10mil streams soon and black mamba hit 100mil and Next Level is hitting 100mil too local aespa I guess.

  • People will take NCT streaming numbers by their units to discredit them when as you said they don't release music as often by the nature of their system. What people do counting 127 or Dream as normal K-Pop groups is the same as counting all of their units together (which they would be angry about).

Dream didn't even have 1 full album until almost 5 years after their debut, they debuted on 2016 and have a shorter discography than TxT and SKZ so that says a lot.

NCT's numbers on Spotify are very decent for how unique and divisive their music is, and as you said, if you compare to groups like Seventeen which debuted from 2015-2017 and with bigger discographies when K-Pop wasn't that big globally their numbers are nothing weird.

Also, people act like SKZ, Enhypen and TxT are outdoing them by a lot when the difference is not really that big.

And also, people conveniently forget the amount of Spotify pages NCT has... NCT is not a normal group neither their subunits are, and it has it's advantages and cons, people acting like nctzens don't like their music are just sad.

  • People are not overreacting, the streams are genuinely bad. Even adding all units up the numbers are low for the amount of songs they put out

  • They have like 3.5b if you combine all accounts, that's pretty good lmao

This is what the person meant when they said "they just push a false narrative". You think if you repeat something enough then it's true. NCT 127 is the 5th most streamed kpop boy group on Spotify and they're only getting bigger. Someday you're going to have to suck it up and

You had me until "kpop boy group", that's not a big serve. They are also getting cleared by the likes of TXT & Enhypen soon enough in much less time.

The difference is both svt and NCT are selling 2m per album while the ones you mentioned are selling 1m. Both svt and NCT have bad streams. Just admit it and get it over with. That doesn't mean that their fans are visual Stans or anything else. But it doesn't make their streams good either.

  • I guess it’s bad when compared with 3rd gen boy groups. So maybe that’s why NCT fans like to say NCT is 4th gen. All in all, it doesn’t look good.

What's so hard to understand about 5th most streamed boy group?

NCT 127 have 1.33 billion streams, seventeen have 1.8 B and they debuted a year earlier and have almost double the number of their physical releases (3 full albums and 10 EPs in korea alone for seventeen, and 3 full albums 4 EPs for 127)

Finally, NCT fans don't like to call them 4th generation, they never did, it was always trolls and we are honestly so tired of telling you all this. It's starting to feel like speaking to a wall.

  • stop exaggerating as if nct streams are good

also, it is better for fans’ mental health to not get pressed because of spotify

  • Less than 50 million streams for an album? That's kind of bad. Kpop streams outside the top 3 groups are really in the pits.

I think nct gets these kind of criticisms because they sell 2m yet have the same and even less streams than groups who sell only a fraction of their sales. The groups are even younger too.

NCT 127 have 1.33 billion streams,

NCT 127 has 1.4 billion streams as of last week.

  • it’s bad for multi million seller though.
