Unpopular Opinions :- Harry Potter Saga (Movies)

  • We all know how movies can be either be better or worse than the source material... Usually movies tend to be worse than the books but Harry Potter is one of those instances where the movies are pretty good considering the vastness of the books.

Here are some of mine unpopular opinions :-

    1. I absolutely dislike the way they skipped majority of Tom Riddle's backstory, Regulus Black's story in The Half Blood Prince...

While I understand that movies have to fit within @@@ef352ef1-a260-4a09-b1a4-78a585896c1e@@@ hours.... I wished they explored more.

    2. I don't know how I feel about Grindelwald giving up the location of Elder Wand to Voldemort... In books, Grindelwald didn't betray Dumbledore and was essentially redeemed and was killed by Voldemort after he refused to give up the location of Elder Wand.

    3. I didn't care much for Ginny in this series. The chemistry with Harry was too flat.

    4. And I really really really dislike how Steve Kloves made Ron look like a dumb character and giving some of his best moments to Hermione.

    5. I prefer movie version of the final fight between Voldemort and Harry...

    It is cinematic.

    6. Absolutely hate the night scenes in Deathly Hallows Part 2 because I couldn't see shit... It was almost pitch darkness. They could have done better.

    What are yours?

    I love Pikachu.

  • Harry should have died

The whole series, book and movie foreshadowed this

I really hate it when authors chicken out of the thing they built the entire thing toward

    But did it though?

Like The primary theme for the whole series (Books and Movies alike) is Death. Voldemort is escaping death and Harry accepts his fate and greets death like an old friend when he goes to the forest...

Of course it wasn't the end because Dumbledore was smart.

I don't think how Harry dying would have worked out?

  • Exactly this. Movie Harry and Ginny felt too awkward and out of place.

Bonnie Wright and Daniel Radcliffe did well for what they were given with... But damn, It could have been way better.

Harry had more chemistry in 1 minute scene with that Waitress in Half Blood Prince than Ginny in the whole saga and that's saying something.

this!!! he should've ended up with Cho or SOMEONE ELSE!!! (waitress in HBP)

CinemaSins did a whole series and he sums up some of my thoughts pretty well. I hate when the plot moves forward only by conflicts bc of a misunderstanding that ONE CONVERSATION could solve.

also don't get me started on Dumbledore's weird decisions towards the middle/end of the series.

1:41:37 to the end is super funny (the whole vid is) and he makes good points!

i grew up with this series so at the time it was hard to find flaws but yeah

  • Which ones?

    I love Pikachu.

    "Pika-Pi"

  • - Ginny is a very boring character and she didn't have chemistry with Harry

    - Ron and Hermione don't make a good couple in books or movies ( https://screenrant.com/harry-p…ne-relationship-no-sense/ )

    Hard Disagree with 2nd point....

Hermione couldn't have found a better person than Ron. It was meant to be.

    I love Pikachu.

  • I love the series, but the way those grown ass adults were so useless a bunch of 11-year-olds and later teens had to solve their problems was ridiculous. Seriously, nobody but Hermione could figure out the basilisk?

I thought in the books Ron/Hermione was pretty well forshadowed. The movies suddenly came up with all that Harry/Hermione nonsense cause the screenwriter loved Hermione so much and it was wtf. They have zero romantic chemistry in the books.

Ginny was a non-entity both in the books and the movie. I know people now claim she was such a great book character but honestly take her out after the second book and not a thing changes. There was no need for everyone to end up with their childhood sweetheart. The epilogue should have been cut anyways.

the adult cast were amazing actors who did great with their characters but they were also all too old. The Marauders generation should have been in their mid 30s, not late 40s.

  • him setting up his death or whatever for Harry to witness like wtaf was that? i forget the reasoning behind it but it was weird.

the fact that so many plot holes/unexplained things in the movie can easily be solved by reading the books says a lot

    It was explained though?

When Dumbledore was in possession of Marvolo Gaunt's Ring (A horcrux), It kind of spoke to him... Something about his sister who was killed when he was young... In an effort to either speak with her or see her because he feels guilty of her death... He unknowingly put the ring on and the poison (or curse) of the ring started spreading, starting from his hand and would eventually end up killing him in a year (Snape said this in movie during Snape's Memories part)... Dumbledore would have died either way so he and Snape planned everything so that Voldemort doesn't have the control of Elder Wand.

    ok this... this makes sense.

jesus i can't believe it's been 7+ years since i watched the movies

  • and yes,

I would have very much preferred a TV series with multiple seasons instead of Movies if it was possible.....

That way backstories of many character could be fleshed out...

    eventually maybe my friend...

if there's money to be made then I'm sure whoever has the rights will remake it
