is 30 million won good enough salary to live in korea

    I have been applying for jobs and got an offer from a korean company but i am confused because people are saying that things are really expensive there and etc. so I just wanted to know if anyone have an idea plzzz tell me

    You earn 2100$ a month


    After taxes you only have 1780$ left


    Rent for most apartments is 700-1200$


    Each time going somewhere with public transport costs arund 1$ so let's say you use a bus and the subway 3 times to go to work and 2 times to go shopping for groceries on the same day and you count the way back home, so you pay 10$ allreadey. count this to a 31 day long month anf you pay almost 300$ for going somewhere


    You also pay 0.6% from what you earn for health insurance wich is in this case around 13$. You also pay other insurances wich is in total something around 50$ a month depending on what insurances you pay for.


    Let's asume your apartment costs 1.200$ and you you allready payed taxes, payed for the bus, payed insurances, ... than you have 230$ left for food and other items. That's nothing since grocery shopping to eat an entire week can cost up to 100$ allready (wich is why so many people preffer to go to a restaurant in Korea cause it is cheaper than cooking at home)

    If it's in places like seoul, it's enough money for yourself if you spend it carefully, but I don't think you would have enough to send back home.

    $2100

    After taxes: $1780

    After Health care: $1750

    After Transportation: $1500

    After Apartment: $500

    After food and other expenses you won't have much left.

    If you could find a roommate you could probably save $500 a month and since this is a starting salary I assume you will get more money as time went on. Also keep in mind I gave $1000 for a nice place. If you want something a little cheaper and don't mind a bit of a longer commute you could find some small places to live for $500. And with a roommate that would only be about $250 a month.

    Another option could be getting a small second job during the weekends if you aren't super busy. My mom for example does data entry for 5-6 hours on sat and sun and makes an extra $400-500 a month. I wouldn't say this is a bad starting salary in sk but it's all about how you use that money. If you like going to the movies and shopping a lot, then you definetly won't have much to send home.

    actually I dont know. I actually wanted to go abroad just to escape from my society and constant pressure of marriage and the constant gatekeeping which I felt as a woman here.

    but it looks like I can earn and save much better here so I am just confused. but also if I remain here I definitely would end up in a forced relationship so....
