Why do kpoppers project their values onto idols?

  • Oh, now understand. Thanks. About the subject. Fans usually idolize people with their values, i mean, you would idolize someone who, lets say, is a racist when you are not? Is a very human thing, ofc the problem is sometimes people force their values.

but being racist is a crime

all i mentioned are irrelevant personal opinions... and people act like it's a crime

  • Idolization for the most part. I don't think stan twitter wants to idolize someone that doesn't think like them, and since idols don't share much about their worldview or anything like that, projecting beliefs onto them becomes easier.

As for fandoms getting mad at their faves mentioning other idols, well... fandoms, in general, don't have a good relationship.

  • Some fans wanting idols to be Christians, even pray for idols to become Christians

I always thought it was the other way around lol

you know how Christianity views homosexuality and I in no way appove that being bi myself but also coming from catholic school I know how Christians think ...so if anybody thinks idols who are Christians support LGBT+, I can guarantee you most don't although there may be some rare exceptions....most of them are not dumb enough to say it aloud though *looking at you Siwon*

Ok, maybe my example is too extreme. But the principle is there, they want the people who idolize share their values. Also, realize that must of this people is very inmature, idols dont do what they want and get mad. And btw, is a big different with someone wanting and idol share their religion with someone being mad because Jiyho say BTS paved the way. I mean, the first is the way you see the world and the other is just a different of opinion in a silly subject. I think this things should not be treated as the same.

in this example fans expect idols to have twt's stan war mentality, being a childish thought

  • With "forcing" queer identities onto idols (not considering shipping at all), I think there's an overlap of thinking that goes into it.

The first is the idea that only the gays support the gays. Still prevalent in lots of areas in the world where straight allyship is rare/nonexistent.

The second is that rarely do people want to support those who would harm them or don't understand them. Hence, assuming they're gay/queer means their support might seem more sincere (typically good straight allies are hard to find even in supportive communities).

The third is the taboo aspects of the topic encourage those who are marginalized to find it even more appealing.

    Does my logic make sense?
